I got it fixed by resetting the BIOS to default.
Thank you for the help though, I did upgrade the firmware in case of future issues.
It's weird how Ubuntu pendrive could circumvent the BIOS setting and use the device while Windows is limited by the BIOS...

I fixed the issue by resetting the BIOS to default. Must had been a wrong setting in BIOS for the issue.
Though it's puzzling how Ubuntu pendrive could bypass the BIOS setting to utilize the devices while Windows is limited to the BIOS.
I am having trouble getting the NEC ND-3520A DVDROM to function under Windows 7.
The device manager is reporting it as "This device cannot start" (code 10).
However, when I bootup via Ubuntu, the device works properly.
Anyone know what may be the cause to the issue in Windows 7? Thanks...

I was able to get it to work now after much trial and error in the BIOS.
The issue seems to be problematic BIOS. With SATA as AHCI turned on, the BIOS wasn't able to recognize the DVD, but was able to with SATA as Native IDE.
For some reason, when I rebooted...
Before entering BIOS, it doesn't have a F8 option though.
F12 is for boot menu (to select boot source)
After entering BIOS, F8 would be for Q-Flash (for flashing BIOS)
I built a new pc today with Gigabyte's GA-870A-UD3 and tried to install Win7 64bits from fresh.
However, when I tried to boot off the dvdrom for the installation, I was stuck at the "Loading Operating System" screen.
Then I tried to boot off WinXP, yet still stuck at the same "Loading...
Currently I have the following setup for my hard drives...
C: 2 70gb in RAID1 for programs
D: 2 640gb in RAID1 for data
They are both NTFS on nForce RAID (nF4, Asus A8N-SLI), running WinXP.
I'm thinking of replacing the 70gb drives with the 640gb and migrating the data onto new 1T drives...

I encountered the same problem as you, missing/corrupted pci.sys. I tried to copy a pci.sys from another comp over using the Reconvery Console, but it didnt fix the error. I'm wondering if you can give me suggestions on this. Thanks!
