Interesting, from the tech articles I read, I was beginning to think that there would only be a small performance increase if I switched to dual core. (The main programs I use are Eclipse, an app server and MySQL for the database.)
1. Anybody know why 2.8GHz machines are more expensive now...
Hi all,
What hardware will get me the best possible increase in performance in terms of programming? I see lots of tests for gaming and encoding, but none for programming.
Specifically, I want these things to run as fast as possible in this order:
application server: decreasing startup...
I'm installing a new hard drive in my 400SC, and I wanted to take the chance to install the latest drivers for my system. If some experts could answer these questions for me, that would be great.
1. Should I run the Intel Express BIOS update? Will it increase the performance of my system...
Edit: That worked great! Thanks DusterAZ.
When I go to CONTROL PANEL->ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS, I am unable to remove the ATI DISPLAY DRIVER. When I click CHANGE/REMOVE, the following error message appears: UNABLE TO INSTALL OLDER OR NON-ATI DISPLAY DRIVERS. *

I'm a little confused. How can you determine performance with the two numbers? (xxx/xxx) Also, do these cards perform the same, or is the price difference justified. One of the posters stated that there was no difference between the cards.
Edit: And how does this compare to the 5200? Is...
According to anandtech you should pick the game you like the most, and look at the benchmarks for that game. So...what game(s) do you play the most. I was researching this stuff for several days now, and I have found that anandtech has some excellent reviews for older games/video cards.
Thanks all for your help! Does it matter how bad the video card is in terms of the DVI performance? I keep thinking that bad video cards will have bad DVI performance. That's why I was hoping that I'd see a $10 MX440 card with a DVI input. I'm starting to think that MX440s do not come with...
Is this the right forum to ask this question? I need a really cheap video card from a reputable site . I'd really like to use the DVI capability of my LCD monitor. I'm waiting to upgrade my video card, but I'm still conflicted on which one to get. Any suggestions?
From one review I saw from storage review, the Seagate drive was the worst performer. I think the review was for 160 or 200GB HDs. Aren't caviar hard drives fast hard drives?
