Force resolutions on a 30" monitor.

I'm finding that out. There seems to be no way to override what Vista reports as "max resolution" at 1280x800. So, I can't trick it into displaying 1600by1200 or 1920by1040. Just for fun I'm going to try this with an XP machine tomorrow. Bet I can get a 1600by1200 1:1 on it.

8 Gigs in a Macbook Pro?

Yes, but does the motherboard support it? I don't know who the manufacturer is, so I don't have any way (other than the apple site which doesn't exactly follow a full disclosure policy on hardware) to find out short of ordering one and sticking them in...

Force resolutions on a 30" monitor.

That's what I'd assume as well. However, I'm completely unfamiliar with any tools that will let me force that image to this monitor. I would have used Rivatuner in XP a few years ago, but I've been a bit out of touch with this stuff since then. I've got an Nvidia card and Vista 64. What can I...

Force resolutions on a 30" monitor.

Just FYI, this is on a computer running Vista 64bit

Force resolutions on a 30" monitor.

Out of curiosity, I'm trying to force a higher resolution on to a dell 3007 monitor. Let's presume I've only got a single link connection and I wanted to run a 30" monitor at 1920x1200 temporarily. Now, I know this monitor won't do that on it's own. But, if I turned off scaling in the driver and...

8 Gigs in a Macbook Pro?

Yeah, I know. I'm just curious if anyone has tried it just for fun. Anand likes to pull macs apart and do things to them, and I assume other adventurous people might do the same. Just pinging to see if anyone has...

8 Gigs in a Macbook Pro?

I've had some issues with Dell workstation laptops and dual-link DVI support. So, I'm toying with the idea of getting a macbook pro (17") and pulling the 2 gigs it comes with and dropping in the 8 gigs out of my Dell M6300. I'm unsure if the macbook pro will even recognize all 8 gigs. (I'd be...

    dual-link in laptops

That's what I was afraid of. Seriously, I can't believe I'm the only one that has had this problem. 30" LCDs aren't exactly unheard of in the architecture/construction world, and this laptop is one of the few that meets the requirements for the more demanding apps out there in the field. It just...

    dual-link in laptops

Right, But, I know that HP's workstation has the same limitation, but has a docking station that can support a 30" monitor. This tells me that there are possible solutions, but not a precise one. I don't know if there are express cards that provide additional graphics expansion options, or...

    dual-link in laptops

So, I've got a "technical" question... How exactly do the graphics ports on the back of a laptop connect to the graphics card? I believe the 3600M is an MXM card, but who knows how dell installed it... I'm asking because Dell, in their infinite wisdom, has choosen to install a graphics...
