A cheap router is like a cheap hard drive is like a cheap pacemaker. Spend a few extra bucks and buy something like the T-Mobile/Asus AC-1900 (<$50) and enjoy ongoing stability and firmware updates.
I went for this deal and extended my current Bitdefender subscription. However, I'm not a fan of everything they do in their software and turn off a lot of it. I basically want any downloads scanned for viruses and that's it. I don't want my email scanned and I don't want my browsing sessions...
An update on this. The problem was not the PSU since replacing it did not fix the issue. I never got to the bottom of it but the main suspect is the motherboard. I'm guessing that it's a BIOS issue but Gigabyte stopped supporting this board pretty quickly so a solution is not on the horizon...
That's not saying much. I haven't noticed HF stuff getting significantly better over the years. Where they score well is selling stuff cheap that's just good enough to do the job at hand. Chances are that if you pull it out year later for another job it will be rusted/ceased up or the plastic...
