thanks for the clarification but unfortunately I still have no display. What is most likely the problem? Do I need a floppy with the CMOS on it? Is the CMOS still alright? Could i have fried the CPu?

Building a comp w/ Abit NF7-S, XP-2400, and 512 MB DDR 3200. I put it together and booted. POST came up with error about CPU and said to access the SOFT Setup Menu. I clocked the external bus up and then booted. I recieved a red error about system. Then turned off, cleared CMOS and booted but...
