Home movie recording, editing and combining?

You could use virtualDub to get started. You could do the capture, add the soundtrack and split the movies using virtualDub. The best of all is that it is free. Download VirtualDub

    Can't play full motion video

That is weird, it skips once usage goes over 100%. Remove one chip, and see what happens. Just guessing here, but I hope you fix it.

    Can't play full motion video

With DivX movies it all depends on the amount of keyframes inserted in the video stream and the video resolution. I had a full resolution DivX play fine on my Athlon750 but jerked like hell on my friends Celeron 450. Check the resolution of the DivX, if it is 720x480 or something then whoever...

    Can't play full motion video

Be more specific, what type of Video (DVD, MPEG1, MPEG2, DIVX, WMA, AVI (Codec ?), etc), what application are you using to play the video (Media Player 6, Media Player 7, PowerDVD, etc). If you are trying to play Full Video Uncompressed video then the answer is simple, your HD bandwidth is to...

video capturing questions PLEASE help me nerds :)

The reason you are running out of space is because you are using a RAW codec. So the data is not compressed. If using the MPEG4 codec 60min in really good quality would need less than 650mb. If you wish to do some video editing on the media using fat32, i suggest using a compressor, when...

Slow boot on WINME w/ASUS A7V HELP!

Are you using the ATA100 controler, if not disable it in the bios. The bios are looking for ATA100 devices connected to the controler, so if there aint any, disable it. If you cannot find such a setting install the latest bios, 1004d i think.

AMD thunderbird and ASUS A7V are a bad mix

I do not think it is not a memory problem. I have generic PC133 ram and all my problems disapeared when I turned off ACPI and changed the system speed setting from Optimal to Normal. That setting turns off AGPx4 and changes the memory timings as well. The differance between AGPx4 and AGPx2 is...

AMD thunderbird and ASUS A7V are a bad mix

It is a problem in the Bios I believe, relates to ACPI, die AGP speed and memory timings. Not sure what Is actually causing the problem, but here is the fix. In the bios change the cpu speed or system speed not sure what, from optimal to normal. The speed decrease is nominal but your system...

    Is ACPI worth the trouble??

First change system speed setting to normal instead of optimal in your bios. If your system stil gets smacked down turn of ACPI.

    Help system wont boot

Sounds like a IRQ conflict, try assigning IRQ's in the BIOS, what chipset does that MB contain, and what Video card are you using?

*update, it's fixed!!!* SBlive! crashes when installing! with liveware 3.0

Disable ACPI in the bios by telling the bios that no P&P OS is installed. Then use the bios to assign irq's to the different PCI slots. That last step may not be needed, first reboot and see what happens. Windows will re-detect all hardware so have the windows cd nearby. Make sure the SBLive...

Anybody with Asus A7V and Asus v7100 stability problems (Constant Lockups in Games and Windows) ??

Believe me I tried everything. Latest Drivers, bio tweaking, removed all other components, everything I could think of. The only thing that worked was the fix I mentioned above. The problem is not MS OS specific. Same thing happend in Windows 98, ME and 2000. Since then my whole system has been...

Anybody with Asus A7V and Asus v7100 stability problems (Constant Lockups in Games and Windows) ??

Had this for a while and made me crazy. To fix change the system speed to Normal instead of optimal, this will limit AGP to x2. I also disabled ACPI. Do not know if both are needed to fix the problem but ACPI is more trouble than its worth anyway. Hope this helps someone.
