having trouble writing a program that generates source code

I cleaned a few things up based on what I thought you were going for. I'm assuming that you're just starting out and trying to learn how to output to a file? Because you're not currently outputting anything meaningful but it seems like you're trying to print the countdown of counter2 since you...

Cleaning up a simple bash script

The default ssh keys are fairly secure at default settings. But, you can change the format for the ssh key generation if you're inclined. If you're talking about security for the actual script, you can just set the owner to root which would require root access to read, write, and execute.

Cleaning up a simple bash script

Generate ssh keys (if you haven't done so already) and run the rsync with ssh options.

So here's an idea on Disneyworld

They have high speed trains over there. You can travel from EuroDisney to London in 2.5 hours. You could easily use the EuroDisney resort as a staging ground with a little planning depending on what you wanted to see.

So here's an idea on Disneyworld

The DVC is interesting too because you can use it at all of the Disney resorts. You could go to the EuroDisney and only have to pay for airfare if you have enough points. I kind of thought that a Disney resort would be nice homebase for some European exploration.

Habitable planets easier to find than previously believed

Yeah, I had a knee jerk reaction. When I tutored physics I had to point out that difference all the time...lol

New to programming, where to start?

I've never encountered any problems with Java's memory management. If you work with the minimum scope possible the GC works great. But, the OP would be able to learn a new language by the time he starts to encounter memory management issues...lol

So here's an idea on Disneyworld

I think that I would try to cater to international visitors that would be more likely to rent it for at least a week. You could partner with some foreign travel companies and advertise on travel forums. I bet you could make it work with enough effort.

Habitable planets easier to find than previously believed

The r^2 isn't radius for gravitational force. It's the distance between the centers of the two objects. So, a planet that is 10x the size of the earth could have the same gravity as earth if it was the right distance from the star it was orbiting.

So here's an idea on Disneyworld

You could buy a nice place and rent it out to vacationers when you're not using it.

New to programming, where to start?

This. You'll be surprised how fast you can pick up additional languages after you learn your first one. Edit: I think that I'd start with Python. It has lots of documentation, portable code, and you can easily jump right into writing real programs with it.
