Intel increases IPC 10% and it nets people a frame or two in their game of the day and people get all excited, but AMD slowly chews their way through the GPU hierarchy with their APU's and people yawn.
I don't get it.
I can build a tiny little mini-itx box today with an athlon 5350 that runs...
With Carrizo being a full HSA 1.0 part, will it be able to use hUMA to utilize pointers instead of copies reducing memory bw needs? Or is that something that can't be done @ the driver level and needs to be written in software? From my understanding HSA was supposed to unify the memory pool IE...
What I don't understand is why AMD is jumping from one idea that was before its time to another. How many years is it gonna take for this HSA stuff to pay off? Have they even mentioned HSA support in Mantle? That's their own API for gods sake and I can't find a word on it. They are about to drop...
It's during normal gameplay too, especially walking around the main camp where I get hitching for about 0.5 second where I presume it's loading in new textures every now and then. I do have it installed on an SSD if you're curious, so I don't think that's my bottleneck.
I've tried all the cap...
I have to agree with people badmouthing kepler. I have a GTX 670 2gb and I don't think I've ever had a GPU get this obsolete this fast. It's more or less worthless with these new console ports. Really wish I would have gotten the 7970 instead.
I've been trying to, it's a stuttering, hitching mess. From what I've read windows 8.1 would clean it up quite a bit with an NVIDIA card, but mantle will help much more, especially once the mantle memory leak is fixed...
I know it'd be a slight downgrade in performance that's why I said "upgrade". I'm thinking more in terms of eliminating that vram bottleneck and being able to use mantle to improve DA:I cpu performance(I'm on win7 so the NVIDIA DX11.2 draw call improvements don't help me). I don't play many...
So should I "upgrade" from my 2gb GTX 670 to a 4gb R9 270x? I seem to be terribly vram limited. Mantle is pretty appealing as I have only a stock clocked 2550k(case airflow is lacking). I'm also not sure if my 8gb system ram is cutting for the game either.
I don't think I *can* roll back my driver, the release notes say that this is the first driver with support for the 78XX series cards.
Here's a video showing more games bugging out:

I've tried enabling and disabiling AA, AF and every other setting you can imagine both in the game and in CCC, AFAIK. The only thing that works is disabling shadows - for obvious reasons.
This is driving me nuts!
I'll cap a vid of stalker when I get home from work because the "bug" is...
Every game that has dynamc shadows - I've seen it in stalker, new vegas, skyrim and global agenda.
Here's a video I just frapsed in new vegas to show you what I mean exactly.

Anyone else having issues with dynamic shadows dissapearing in games with hd 7850 and/or the 12.3 drivers? It seems to only be world/prop shadows; character shadows don't seem to vanish on me. It also seems to be dependant on what angle I view the shadow from.
So far I've tried reinstalling...
