$3K to spend on 2.0 speakers...

If you've got the space these are a steal at this price: http://www.chasehometheater.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4181 You could add a sub, but they go down to 25hz and even lower in-room. I probably wouldn't bother for a music only system. That way it'd leave some cash left over to get...

    Sub-$100 2.1 system for a bedroom?

It seemed pretty obvious to me that the recommendations were for a specific price range. Sure there are way better things out there. What does that have to do with the topic at hand? A simple "I think buying anything in that price range is a waste of money" would suffice if that is your...

    Sub-$100 2.1 system for a bedroom?

Klipsch 2.1's are pretty good for the price, and fully acceptable for desktop computer speakers. I don't know of anything else I would be able to recommend at that price point personally.

Ok, I'm not an audiophile: home theatre $$$ question

I'd look at upgrading the 750's too. They are a MUCH better speaker with the Danny Richie designed crossovers. Congrats, Edge1. Those are nice little speakers. I have a pair that I upgraded with Ninja Master crossovers, NoRez, and Vampire binding posts. They currently occupy my computer...

Stumped by a Simple Thing...Video Card Install...

It usually doesn't matter if onboard graphics is turned on in BIOS still (OEM boards usually have a much less robust BIOS anyway, so it may not even be possible) but uninstalling any old drivers is important. Definitely use the cleaner tool.

Anyone here ever used, or currently uses, a hardware graphic equalizer?

yes, a couple of devices will make a negligible amount of difference. (most decent stuff will have specs that will tell you their signal response, distortion, etc.) I can totally understand the desire for a simple, clean signal path. I just don't think we're dealing with a level audio...

Anyone here ever used, or currently uses, a hardware graphic equalizer?

It's unlikely the gain (in control) or loss (from distortion) would compare to the change in sound quality you would experience from getting better speakers. I've got a lot of experience in pro audio and studio situations, so I've got quite a bit of exprience with hardware eq's. They are good...

    XEON E3110 $200.00 No Holla !! @Buy.com

yes, make sure to get the 775 version. and the 5% coupon worked for me this morning. I don't know if it was a different one though. I found a link to mine at slickdeals.net EDIT: Yep, they're gone. It made the "what's shakin'" list, so a bunch of people must have realized this. It's...

    E8400 vs E3110

using that buy.com coupon, I picked one up this morning for 189.40 shipped. (you could get it shipped 3-5 day for like $6 extra) I'm also curious about the features. Would they have two cpus with different features enabled and still use the same CPUID string? It looks like the features list...

    E8400 vs E3110

Is that going to matter? The xeon starts .106 higher, but doesn't go as high. If I'm not really overclocking I won't need it, right? Does average use ever see the upper or lower limits? I'm not sure what the PCG spec is, but the fact that there isn't one for the E8400 makes me suspect it...

    E8400 vs E3110

Can anybody tell me if there is any reason I would want one over the other? Here are the Intel Spec Sheets: Core 2 Duo E8400 Xeon E3110 It looks like a re-badge job of the same processor. I'd be able to put the E3110 in a P35 mobo, right? It's LGA-775. I'm primarily interested...

    Core 2 & AM2 Motherboards - Recommendations

I won't pretend to know which x38 board is the most stable since I don't have any experience with any of them yet, but I will say that when researching mobos for a build you have to take those reviews with a grain of salt. Look for recurring issues that may constitute design flaws and such, but...
