Yeah, and the case I have picked out has good cable management...but then again the premium for modular isn't that great at all so it's good advice to give. It could save me hassle routing.
I'm trying to dip my toe in the PC gaming waters after a long absence. Not a pro gamer or anything like that. I was joking about the Xbox. I could never abide one of those paddle style controllers. And what's the benefit of a modular PSU aside from hot having cables that I could easily route...
Thanks Thinker. Well I'm not a competitive gamer, and Skyrim and Doom are the only games I'm interested in at the moment. Perhaps cheaping out on something I know can run those well, and just buy a new card whenever Elder Scrolls 6 comes out.
I had initially selected a modular PSU but...
Nice thanks. I don't like upgrading generally anything in less than 5 year increments. I'm coming from an Athlon X4 Propus quad core and 660, and the only reason I'm wanting to upgrade now is b/c my wife took that box when she left. So now I *have* to replace it heh.
For less money, I could actually run video off the 6700K and just game on an Xbox heh. But that would mean sacrifices in performance, graphics, and having to use a stupid controller.
By the way you guys are talking, even a GTX-1080 wouldn't even last long. My last gaming card was a GTX-660 (non-Ti) and I thought it was the bee's knees hah.
Right now I just want something to rock out Doom and Skyrim Remastered, while keeping an eye towards future games I may want to be be...
Wow okay, so my logic is surprisingly sound. That doesn't happen often haha. Definitely go with the GTX-1070 then and stop trying to find reasons to cheap out with an RX 480. Thanks!
Hey all,
I'm getting ready to build a new PC for gaming. I haven't gamed in years, and could use some advice.
I'm interested in top performance 1080p. I'd rather have blowout 100+ frame rates in 1080p than struggle and have to upgrade in a year or two messing with 1440p.
I had a 1070/Gsync...
I love my K480, but it's not very mobile. It's heavy and loud. I actually like that, but I bought it to keep near the TV so I can connect it to my set top box, phone and tablet while I couch potato.
If you want to be mobile I'd look at something else.
Replaced DFX Player for music with Phonograph, it's actually pretty decent.
Also, loving XiiaLive for streaming internet and local radio stations. It's far from perfect, but at least I can get my SomaFM fix without jumping through too many hoops. TuneIn's UI was a disaster and I think Xiia...
I was doing a bit more research and it seems, at 1440p, a GTX-1070, hell, even a 1080 isn't going to give those super high 100+ framerates on the modern games with maxed out settings. I'd kind of rather just get a high refresh, low input lag 1080p TN screen and not even worry about gsync. I'd...
Wow, thanks Russian. If read time isn't improved with that Samsung 950 Pro then I can DEFINITELY go cheaper. Back to the SP550 for 200 savings.
I used to be a big FPS gamer way way back during the Quake 2 days....haven't gamed much since then at all, aside from Elder Scrolls games here and...
This one costs $315 for 512 gigs....I'm assuming it's the faster one. Samsung 950 Pro M.2
Someone above said it's a port to the 64bit Fallout 4 engine. Honestly I don't care what they did with it, so long as it looks nice, which it does.
