How much power does this system need?

Only 300? That seems a bit low. Are high end video cards and overclocked processors really the only major drain on power these days? It seems like an Athlon 64 system with four hard drives would need more than 300, but maybe not. Anyone agree/disagree? -Windex256

How much power does this system need?

Hi, I'm in the process of helping my dad put together a new system, and need some advice in selecting a PSU. I know he should go with a reputable brand, such as Antec, OCZ, Enermax, etc, but I'm not sure how much wattage he'll need. He's not into overclocking or gaming, so the video card...

    Asus A8V Video Problems

Doh - just posted something about this problem myself, and then found this thread. Upon reading through what you guys have said, I tried moving around my DIMMs, and got results much like what gumba just reported. The system simply doesn't seem to want to display anything when I've got a DIMM...

Something terribly wrong with my A8V Deluxe Rev2

EDIT: I just noticed another thread about this very same problem - sorry, didn't do my homework first. Hi, I've been testing out overclocking on my new system for the past few days: Asus A8V Deluxe Rev2 Athlon 64 3000+ 90nm 2x512MB OCZ EL Platinum Edition Rev2 OCZ PowerStream 520W...

    Anandtech 90nm vs 130nm A64 review

All right, so here's the situation I'm in. I was planning to order the following components for my system tomorrow: NewCastle 3000+ DFI LanParty UT nF3-250Gb OCZ PC3200 Plat Rev2 2x512 Zalman CNPS-7000 Cu Antec TruePower 550W I would expect to be able to OC this to around 2.5GHz...

1GB Corsair VS, or 512MB OCZ EL Plat Rev2?

Faster RAM might mean higher max FPS, but a game without enough RAM (and I keep reading more and more about current games really needing more than 512MB) will chug all the time, as data is swapped in and out of the page file. Personally, I'd rather have a smooth, consistant 70fps than 80fps...

1GB Corsair VS, or 512MB OCZ EL Plat Rev2?

By golly, you're right, they were using ClawHammers. I think I got the idea in my head that they were using NewCastles from the most recent Overclocking Buyer's Guide, in which they DO use a NewCastle 3200, and state that most users can reach 2.5+ with it. So the 3000+ should do 2.5 as well...

1GB Corsair VS, or 512MB OCZ EL Plat Rev2?

I suppose I should have specified PC3200 for both types of RAM, though you guys seemed to have assumed it, anyway. So, you think 1GB of the Corsair would be better than 512MB of the OCZ? I guess I was kind of leaning that way. Smoother is generally better than faster. As far as the PSU...

1GB Corsair VS, or 512MB OCZ EL Plat Rev2?

Hi, I'm in the process of a researching a new system, am planning to overclock, and I'm trying to decide which route to take for system RAM. The relevant components of the rest of the system will be as follows (probably): CPU: AMD Athlon 64 NewCastle 3200+ Motherboard: DFI LanParty UT...
