    Movie appeared grainy in LCD

I checked the spec. It's 16 million colors (is this what you are talking about?) 16 million seems standard to me... Anyway, I watched the same movie again on my CRT, it's much less grainy and has better color range. Thanks, William

    Movie appeared grainy in LCD

How do you check if the LCD has 12 bit or 16 bit color? Isn't this supposed to be a standard? Thanks, William

Hi guys! I am trying out this monitor: Princeton 19". Not the best monitor out there, but they got it in costco so I can try it out without the time hassle (if you know what I mean) I am using its DVI input, everything looks sharp in desktop, and games are fine (ghosting are minimal) but...

    XML newbie questions

I am not sure if this is the right place to talk about this, so forgive this newbie. I am just starting to learn how to use .NET stuff (particularly ASP and C# for web development) and my friend mentioned something about XPATH and XML. After scanning some article in google, I came to a...

Need an un-biased suggestion on 19" LCD choice

One of my friend said that the response time on paper doesn't really say anything because there are many dependencies and technology limitation that would lower the actual response time. Like for example: the brightness settings and the view angle might actually affect the response time. Plus...

Need an un-biased suggestion on 19" LCD choice

animeba, for real! 8ms coming out next month and will become mainstream beginning of 2005! Linky Damn, maybe I should stick to my CRT a bit longer... bates747, the debate regarding whether Sony "new black coating technology" is too reflective or not has been mixed. Some people don't mind, some...

bates747, it's this one: Sony SDM-HS94P (Manufacturer Link) Is this the reflective version? Do you think I should wait 'til Thanksgiving (and lose the $100 rebate) or buy now for about $710 AR? Thanks, William

Need an un-biased suggestion on 19" LCD choice

I thought BenQ is one of those "Grade B" product, or am I just being bias :) For hardware as expensive as this, I usually stays away from non-major-brand goods, not that I have anything against Taiwanese manufacturer (in fact, most of my computer parts came from Taiwan, plus I am chinese :P)...

Need an un-biased suggestion on 19" LCD choice

Hi guys! I am about to spend around $600-$700 for a 19" LCD and I need you resourceful ATers' opinion on my choices. I have looked for some reviews on the net but most reviews out there are subjective and they rarely compare two or three monitors together. I do a lot of graphic design stuff...

Do you think that Microsoft can successfully compete with Sony in the Next-Generation console war?

I think it all depends on the games. People buy consoles because they want to play certain games. And Japanese firms still dominate in this area.

    PHP question

I can say I am an intermediate-level coder in PHP. I have dealt with MySQL querying and form processing, but for this project, I am not allowed to use MySQL or any type of database at all. I am instead forced to use text file as my database. I have never tried to access text file (some people...
