check your ram timings, make sure they aren't very aggressive. This could also be a vcore setting issue, as you are overclocking your 3500. See if cranking it up .5 helps. Also, get to ddr 400 ASAP. You have a dual channel mobo - the finishing touches on athlon 64 but you are bottlenecking...
anandtech just reviewed a whole grip of low latency ddr 400 modules. They claim crucial ballistix is the best overclocker at least... I'm guessing if you don't want to overclock, any one of these 2-2-2 rams would do quite fine.

good question. Going 2600 mobile would be the better move, and with ddr 333 you could get a great overclock by just setting your fsb to 166. My knowledge of the mobile is very limited, but from what I understand you may need to change your vcore settings, but thats no biggie. Your rig sounds...
The crucial ram has much more aggressive timings, defaulting to 2-2-2 timings. It also overclocks better than other ram on athlon 64 systems if that's what you are running or planning to run.
Here's a good article on the crucial ballistix if you like reading RAM reviews...
Perhaps I am breakin it all down wrong but you essentally still need TWO COMPLETE systems before you can start mixing and matching parts. My suggestion would be see what you personally can build for $1000.00. I'm lazy, so I stayed with just newegg.
CTX S700-1 17" LCD Monitor = $329.00...
Sempron 3100 flies on a socket 754 board, meaning they would need to upgrade cpu, mobo, and vid card to play doom3. In addition to that to maximize performance on sempron 3100, they would still want ddr 400 rather than their current 333. My whole basis for this upgrade was their price roof of...
Hi,
If i had only 300 dollars to upgrade a system such as yours, I would chose this route:
ATI RADEON 9800 pro $194.00:

and a cpu upgrade athlon xp 2700+ $99.00...
Hi,
I have recently built several systems based powered by this board: http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2036&p=1
I have not fiddled with the overclocking yet, because the machines (two a64 2800's and one a64 3200) were not mine. The aforementioned review suggests that the...
