Nothing strange in Magician, it says the drive is fine. It is constantly freezing my computer so I know that is not true.
Trying to rma with Samsung now
I tried the SSD in an external enclosure and it said the same thing as it did when it was in my laptop using the SATA cable. So it being the cable is not true.
Any help? Laptop started being really slow the last few days so I started looking into it.
Is my drive dying?
It's a year old.
Most I was ever able to get over Powerline was around 3MB/s and that was on higher quality powerline adapters only a floor down with their own outlets. Powerline is great for internet speed (I get full 30/10 using it) but not good for local data transfer. I was getting faster results using N.
Technically you don't need to have a virtual system running to use Windows on a Mac, you can just install it on it's own partition and run it right off the hard drive like you would do with a Windows PC.
However I would still get a Windows computer if I were you.
Just read used for gaming...
I agree, it is so annoying. Especially when my security settings need to ask me to run before it starts, so I have a pop up for it everytime I start my computer.
Well, here it is, in all it's glory. This is still through powerline because my family member isn't home yet with their laptop so I can wire the client side into network as well.
My wired laptop was the server side and my Powerline computer the client.
Here is a picture of the result. Please...
I hope you're right. I'm going to wait for a family member to get home with their computer and wire it to the network and do a gigabit -> gigabit speed test for optimal results.
Although I do know the router has problems, when I try to transfer a large file over wireless the router chokes and...
Thanks for the help Azazel. I think I got it working. I shared a folder on my Windows 8 PC.
On my Mac I connected to server using smb://iphere, logged in using local pc account info and saw all my shared folders.
I tested your option of not using the speed test program and instead just looking...
Thanks a lot. Kind of feel like an idiot. I indeed do have an SSD so I guess I was just testing the speed of the drive.
Oops :'(
So I suppose I need to set something like that up on a second computer in order to do this test then.
I'll look into how to do on the google machine because I have...
I'll check it out, but I'm confident my issue is not the program. It is a very popular test program recommended by different sites.
It is a problem with my input but I'm not sure what to do to test it correctly.
I read the help and it just said to choose a folder. I chose my documents. I assumed this was just asking where to put the test file.
What should I be putting in the destination box? The IP of a different computer on the network?
I know this is probably a really stupid question but I'm very...
