Question Massive new Intel manufacturing facility coming to Ohio

It looks like this rumor might actually be true:

There were some rumors of the compute chiplet being 6+8 instead

There was also this rumor that the MTL compute die is in a 6P+8E configuration, so that might explain things.

The larger die seems to be the GPU tile. locuza calculated the die sizes here:

There is a 165W entry for the 10th/11th gen which never materialized in final products, so that seems off.

I think that the AVX capabilities with Gracemont have been greatly improved. Here are some sources, but we should know for sure in a few months:

According to this, the 12900K has an all core MT boost of 5 GHz and a ST boost of 5.3 GHz for the big cores. For the little cores, ST tops out at 3.9 GHz and MT is at 3.7 GHz.

Looks like Windows 11 comes with a noticeable (few %) performance uplift (vs Win 10 21H1) for Hybrid architectures. This bodes well for Alder Lake when it comes out later this year. https://hothardware.com/news/windows-11-gives-hybrid-architectures-a-single-threaded-boost

Yup, I think it was somewhere around +3-5% IPC over ICL, but we will have to wait for more reviews to figure this out.

Yeah, I think ICL-SP is supposed to be fabbed with the same process as ICL-U (10 nm) and not the updated 10SF process. Do we know of any other major products on 10SF other than TGL-U? It is my understanding that Alder lake and Sapphire Rapids will be fabbed with a newer process (10 ESF) next year.

    Speculation: Intel will become fabless

Looks like the huge TSMC 6nm order could partially be explained by the outsourcing of Xe-HPG dies for gaming GPUs : https://videocardz.com/newz/intel-to-unveil-xe-hpg-gaming-architecture-with-hardware-ray-tracing We will very likely hear more about this in the next couple of weeks (Hot chips).

Question Taiwan Report: Intel has reached an agreement with TSMC

I completely agree. To maintain competitiveness with an absolutely resurgent AMD, they need to get their CPUs on better nodes. If I were to take a guess, they might start utilizing TSMC for Granite Rapids. Possibly even SPR as they have a contractual obligation to have things ready for Aurora by...
