    Question Buy/repair X99 motherboard

An option may be to look at the Chinese x99 motherboards. I don't have any personal experience with them, but from what I have heard they are basic, inexpensive, but reliable boards. Usually no overclocking, etc. Prices seem to go from $80 to $120 (USD). I have no idea as to the availability...

Question Best b550 or x570 motherboard for quad rank b-die (5950x)

Thanks for your feedback. I'll be satisfied with 3600, or maybe even a little lower. Just want the best board for the job. I was able to find a good spreadsheet online with am4 motherboard specs, and Asrock does make some x570 t-topology boards (not the Taichi). Here is a link to this, for...

Question Best b550 or x570 motherboard for quad rank b-die (5950x)

Hi there, I'm looking for the best motherboard for quadruple rank ram, as I recently got a Ryzen 5950x, and already have 4x 16gb dual rank Samsung b-die sticks. What's the best board (probably a t-topology configuration?) for trying to get a decent speed on this ram? I know quad rank isn't...

AMD's History of Chip Sizes - or Why chiplets were overdue

That's darned impressive. The zen 2 chiplet is among the smallest chips amd ever produced. Just shows what you get when you go through a die shrink and move most of your uncore to a separate chip.

Dram voltage - IMC voltage and processor longevity

Back in the day, when Intel released the nehalem architecture with it's imc, it was said that a high dram voltage and memory controller voltage could kill your processor. Running your system with ram voltage - imc voltage >= 0.5v was bad for the longevity of the processor. Is this still true for...

Micron E die vs Samsung B die for threadripper

From what I have been reading, it sounds like Crucial memory with 'AES' in the model number is all micron e die.

Micron E die vs Samsung B die for threadripper

I am looking at memory for a new threadripper system, and I have narrowed it down to these two. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jhfhP6/crucial-ballistix-sport-lt-64-gb-4-x-16-gb-ddr4-3200-memory-bls4k16g4d32aese Or 2x of these kits...
