Are integrated graphics ALWAYS the wrong choice?

Just adding to the initial question - I have a Intel 1.7 Ghz, 512 MB 266 RAM, Geforce 2 MX 400 - 64 MB setup. It plays Age of Mythology, Medieval - Total War, Rise of Nations without any issues (all at 1024*768). Yes I'm a RTS fanboy and not much of a shooter :) * Will going for AMD 3000+...

    ATI chipset for AMD

I would like to know if there are any other ones out there. Apart from ECS and MSI - both are Micro ATX and don't have enough room for future upgrades. Maybe an Asus or Gigabyte ?

    ATI chipset for AMD

Peter, thanks for the pointer but I would really like to a see a good integrated graphics chip like the ATIs. From the reviews it looks like I can safely play all RTS games with good resolution on the ATI chipset. Also the motherboard should support PCIe, so that I can add a graphics card at a...

    ATI chipset for AMD

How many motherboards with the ATI Express chipset with onboard video are available for the 939 chips. I could count only two from newegg - both are micro atx? Are there any other chipsets that provide onboard video for the 939 CPUs ?

Worst Movie Ever that you watched

Did any one mention Catwoman? Purrrr.. Was not watchable - even with Halle Berry in it. But I'm happy that I just rented it out on DVD and didn't watch it in a theatre.

    3200 vs 3500

Thanks for all the replies. The point I missed out earlier is that I'm mainly building this PC to play Age of Empires III, which seems to have graphics to rival HL2, Doom3 and the like. If 3200+, 6660Gt and 1 Gig of RAM can play HL2 decently then I don't need to look beyond. No need for OC...

    3200 vs 3500

Thanks for the caution. Is OCing Athlon64 much more difficult for a newbie ? Anyways I think the stock speed for 3200+ with a nice graphics card - like say the 6600Gt and 1GB of RAM should more than cover my needs.

    3200 vs 3500

I'm planning to build a medium capability PC, on which I will mainly be playing RTS games at a moderate graphics capability. AMD is the way to go for sure (no-brainer I guess). And now it looks like Venice (RevE - thanks XBoxLPU) is the thing. Assuming I have enough money to spend, should I...

    Need help with BSOD

I have tried removing one of the 256MB RAM sticks and now the system is very stable I ran it for almost 1 hour the day before and yesterday it ran for almost 2 hours without any issues. Need some more time before I can be certain that RAM is the issue but for now that seems to be the reason...

    Need help with BSOD

Thanks for all your replies. I have been unable to do any of the suggested options yesterday - was caught in a lot of work. Will start with trying out the RAM options and check for any driver error as well.

    Need help with BSOD

I can try checking all those. Guess I will start of with RAM. But is there something in specific that I need to look for or I just have to check the whole set of things.

    Need help with BSOD

I'm not overclocking it. I will set the BIOS to its defaults and check, but I don't think I have changed anything recently. The problem started showing up only a few days ago, till then everything was good.
