not to get off topic too bad, but it's amazing what ffdshow can do. just do a google on it. I agree that this is interpolating pixels and nothing can replace more data, what I'm saying is that for whatever reason, the xbox HD DVD player does not look as good as my HTPC. it's brighter...

FWIW, I was totally disappointed with the HD DVD player. Granted, I have it hooked up to a 720p Infocus projector, but when I compared 300 on HD DVD vs. my HTPC with upscaling/sharpening/denoising filters, my HTPC was clearly better. I'm returning the HD DVD player and wait for a 1080p set...

In Nashville I just told the dude at the Geek station that I saw it online (BB online) for $149, he checked it and walked my up to the register. This was in Cool Springs.

Check out Superbit titles. They look vastly different on my HTPC or upscaling DVD player. You MUST have an HDTV though for it to be any better.
