Going Old School.... Tualatin SlotKet Issues

Did you ever get this working? I'm making a Tualatin Celeron 1.4Ghz + Lin-Lin adapter + Slotket sandwich as well. It's going on an ASUS P2B board which should have the appropriate voltage regulator down to 1.5v. I haven't started yet though because I don't know which combination of jumpers...

    Silent laser alarm with timestamp?

I'm looking for a very specific kind of "alarm". I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. It would be a portable, wallmounted battery operated laser tripwire alarm that is invisible. I don't want any bells, nor do I want anyone to know they tripped it. Basically I...

    Toyota Venza 2013+ opinions

The only car I could find that had comfortable seats AND I could fit in with a sunroof was a previous generation RAV4. I just bought a 2009 RAV4 V6. Damn peppy little machine, especially since that monstrous engine is in much bigger cars like the Avalon, Highlander and Venza's.

    Toyota Venza 2013+ opinions

I'm not familar with the latest two generations of Camrys, but my 1998 and current 2006 LE V6 ones were (are) quite sporty. I zig & zag with the best of them. Hopefully it's around that level. Yep, looking for the V6, and AWD if I'm lucky. Having a hard time finding the exact one I want...

    Toyota Venza 2013+ opinions

I'm looking to buy a used Toyota Venza as it is one of the last cars I've tried that actually fit me and is comfortable, provided I don't get the sunroof. I'm 6'4" with a long torso. And before the Subaru Outback fanboi's come out - yes, the Outback was my first choice. I really wanted one but...

SSD NAND decay aka media retention

How about modern high-capacity flash drives? I know the NAND gets smaller with those 32GB+ USB drives, but I can't find out what. I'd like to create a self-booting restore USB drive for a computer backup, a laptop I'm setting up for my father. After I've loaded everything on the laptop he...

SSD NAND decay aka media retention

I find it hard to believe that the unpowered retention is the same for 50nm SLC as a 20nm TLC process.

SSD NAND decay aka media retention

All my SSD's are 34nm at the moment. I just bought an Intel 510 off eBay because it was made on the 34nm process. I think that will help my peace of mind. It's the specs the manufacturers don't tell that worry me. Of course they are only going to spout the good stuff (speed, etc.).

SSD NAND decay aka media retention

This has been bugging me for years so I'm finally putting pen to paper to ask the experts. As NAND gets smaller (50nm, 34nm, 25nm, 20nm, etc) we have been told that write endurance goes down and SSD manufacturers have to employ more tricks to keep the data fresh using wear algorithms, spare...

    Acer Aspire R1600 help

I bought an Acer R1600 off eBay and want to make a modification to the motherboard inside to allow for a different ATX on/off switch. I see the pinout, but it doesn't have the jumper settings silkscreened on it. Does anyone have a technical manual for the mobo in this thing...

    Are 30" monitors too big?

Personally, I wouldn't need to keep upgrading to a bigger monitor if they didn't keep shrinking the vertical size.

    22" 1680x1050

I personally hate any pixel size less than 0.28, so 1680x1050 on a 22" is perfect for me. I don't subscribe to the higher rez = better. I don't like squintavision. http://lcdtech.no-ip.info/en/data/pixel.size.htm

    Shuttle SS40G SiS video questions

If anyone has an SS40G, could you answer these questions for me? I'm thinking of buying one of these for HTPC use on a regular interlaced TV, as well as a portable box for playing old DOS games. In both those quests, the built-in SiS video is my biggest concern. Does anyone know if the SiS315...
