Installing Windows XP on a S-ATA Drive?

Hmm, frankly, I can't tell...not really good with hardware, unfortunately. For what it's worth (apparently not much), the techs that assured me it worked, plugged the HD's in for me. Taking another look, will report back on my findings (or lack of). Thanks!

Since it's related to loading, I'll ask the obvious; do you defrag your hard drive on a regular basis?

WinXP: "No Valid Hard Disk Drives"?

Been looking around; are there any partitioning/formatting tools other than Partition Magic that would be recommended?

Agreed, unfortunately it sounds like you shorted it. Were you and the system properly grounded during the install?

    Internet Problem

If you're in a router, make sure the IP's are assigned by the router (192.168.x.x), and not Windows. (169.x.x.x). If it's a router, sometimes it helps to disable/enable the network adapter, forcing the card to grab an IP.

WinXP: "No Valid Hard Disk Drives"?

I actually have both a valid and 2-3 download versions; all of them have the same problem. Partition Magic (I'm using the floppy, made in 8) works fine, but the partitions/formatting it does resulted in corruption before (which lead to my previous problem, link in first post). The techie I...

    Odd display "corruption"

Looks like a circuitry problem within the monitor, think you'd have to get it serviced/replaced. Did you try out another monitor?

    Monitor Flashes Black

Sounds like a problem with your monitor's power saving settings. Try Control Panel\Power Options, turn the Standby setting to never, and see if it goes to Standby anymore.

    Is my motherboard dying?

I had most of these problems before, and it did turn out to be the motherboard. I'd also recommend checking for any boot-sector viruses, or anything that might have screwed with your BIOS...

WinXP: "No Valid Hard Disk Drives"?

Unfortunately, since I can't install Windows, there's no GUI option for me to pursue. :( I checked my BIOS to see what's up, it has blanks for primary master/slave. Could that be the problem? My MB is running the VIA K8T800 chipset, if that helps... I'm at the end of my rope, no clue what...

WinXP: "No Valid Hard Disk Drives"?

Erhm, I'm not running any sort of RAID whatsoever, and the cables were set up by a techie for me. Would there still be a potential cabling problem?

WinXP: "No Valid Hard Disk Drives"?

Finally fixed a previous problem (you can read about my woes here), but have come across a new issue. My system: CPU - AMD Athlon 64 3000+ MB - Asus K8V RAM - 1 GB KingMax PC3200 HD - 2x Maxtor 160 GB S-ATA DVD - Sony DWD-18A dual-layer VID - ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 XT AUD -...
