S/puppy - try running on just ONE stick of ram rather than 2. This may sound a little strange but there is an issue with the Chipset and Ram (esp timings). Remove one of the ram cards and see if the delay is removed.

These systems put high demands on the PSU (Power Supply Unit).
This also means they generate heat.
Not all PSU's are equal - these need a decent PSU (truepower/antech etc), I would suggest =>400w
