Problem Resolved!! Thanks for the help. Corkyg, I am also using window7 and the same version of vlc 2.2.4. That startet me thinking that it might have been something I did. It was as simple as resetting the preferences in VLC player.:):)

Thanks! But I was looking to a possible solution which can bring back tha same functionality. Instead of selecting all the videos in a playlist, just click on the folder and click play with vlc. Is it not an option now?

Earlier when I used to right click on a folder full of videos and select 'play with vlc media player', it would start playing videos starting with the first (based on naming or numbering). In between something happened and now it no longer does so. I suspect either vlc or winwdows update has...

Apple could make a killing if they start making laptops which run on windows 7 (not the crippled bootcamp or vmware type running) and make them hdd/ssd/ram upgradable. At least I will be first in line. What holds me back from buying a macbook is the mac os.

It was not new but needed tp share my second experience which was very much like the first one (failure part) except this time the adapter was under warranty, but this does not take away from the fact that the adapter quality is rubbish.

OMG! You are right on the money. I now realise that I was inadvertantly pressing that button. The touchpad would be working in safe mode probably becasue the drivers loaded might not be activating the button's function to disable the touchpad. I feel like kicking myself now. So much time used up...
