if you deal with an Apple Authorized repair center, they get their parts from Apple. i work for one here in PA. if you get a used logic board, it might be cheaper, but you probably won't get much (if any) warranty. I'd look for a busted screen donor like Dave The Nerd said.

I have worked on many G5 iMacs and they are definitely unreliable hardware.

OTOH, welcome to Apple, where an expensive computer outlasts a cheaper Windows PC by a couple years. 2008 iMac going strong at home, 2010 Macbook Pro at work. Both plenty fast. the iMac can run how many operating systems comfortably? and a 2008 PC?
