    i7 930 @ 4.0ghz stable but max temp. is 85c.

Hyperthreading isn't the only difference between an 1366/X58 and 1156/P55 setup no? None of the programs I use, use hypertheading. Guess I never should have bought it.

^^ Looks good. Try getting the blck up to 200 and backing the multiplier down, playing with the CPU and VTT voltage if necessary. You might try disabling hyperthreading to help out as well.

Educate me on the I7 950

After a nightmare of trying to get a Sandy Bridge setup going, I exchanged it for an i7 950/Gigabyte X58A-UD3R setup. I've pretty much finished stability testing at 4.2ghz(1.28V on the CPU, 1.215 on QPI/VTT, the rest stock), with hyperthreading disabled. 60-70° cores under max load with the...

    Xp2500 retail heatsink fan size?

The one I happened to get with my 2500+ was 60x70 I believe, HS actually extended out beyond the fan on two sides.

    256/512 sticks on EPOX 4BDA2+

Memtest is still one of the best....you might try Prime95 even though it is not a ram specific test, it will test your systems stability. In the end though, I think playing video games always challenges a system for stabililty and is the best test for that purpose. I could type a Word document...

Help overclock my XP 2500 Barton

You never did mention what revision of the mobo you have, if you don't have a 2.0, your chances of a 190+ are pretty slim. If you do have a 2.0, you may want to try one stick of ram at a time. Trying to run the large 512 sticks in dual channel makes it even more difficult to run properly, but...

ASUS A7N8X Deluxe OR ABIT NF7-S

I've had em both and can say the Asus has a better board layout. Though I like the Abit I have now cause it's a Rev. 2 and can actually go higher than 190fsb, unlike my 1.04 Asus. Also, if your not interested in SATA get the non-deluxe version of either board to save money. Unless you use the...

now this is a wierd turn of events - memory upgrade and overclocking issue (and not a stability one, I think)

Try each stick separately if you can, and see how you can overclock each individual stick to pinpoint a possible bad one of the two, or maybe both. Might just have compatability probs, though usually not on intel setups. Get memtest, google it to find it, and run that as well to test the ram...

What is the resale value of a 9700 PRO?

I think their value is starting to drop, I think $225 used is about right.
