I'm thinking of buying more RAM 'cos one of mine went bad. As a result my system only have 3 gb ram to work with as the igpu is using 1gb.
Didn't know that A8-7600 only support up to 2133. That's rather disappointing, was thinking I could use up to 2666 or 2400 at least. On the other hand it'd...
As a user of the A8-7600 I can only concur.
After tasting life with APU I really dont want to go back to dGPUs with all that heat, noise, opening it every few months to clean the fan, etc.
Now that the best games for me are mostly indie / kickstarted games and the one I play the most is a MOBA...

As for myself, I'd probably buy...
Absolutely.
I just played the hell out of ADOM last month and it was an awesome ride. ADOM is a roguelike that started as ASCII game but recently got graphics tile. I still often play it in ASCII mode since it actually makes the tactical decision easier.
Nope. Look at how many people are...
The question raised and the response is asymmetric to each other.
Young gamers as well as old one rely on benchmarks to gauge the cpu's performance, they know what they want to do but only have vague notion how well a new cpu can cope with the task.
Its not "modern gaming needs" which is...
OP here.
I feel that many here on the forum as well as Anandtech's reviewers are perhaps of the older demographics that might be out of touch with what younger (15-30 yo) gamers do with their computers.
Go to twitch.tv and see what those streamers do. As you get better and better at online...
Do people have problems understanding what I've written. I just wrote that I understand wanting to isolate confounding variables.
The point is to ask if the benchmark would be representative at least for the portion of gamers who do run other stuff in the background.
Many people whom I...
That is missing the point.
What I'd like to know is if they still are good while streaming and recording your gameplay. There's also 30 tabs browsers and multiple programs running in the background (unlike benchmark scenario which is usually clean windows install).
So I was reading yet another vociferous debate on the merit of intel vs amd cpus here on AT forum. Amongst the mudslinging there were a couple of interesting points being raised:
- Modern games requiring more and more thread; 4 years old i7 2600 can sometimes outcompete modern i5
- Most...
Back in the days of win 95 to win xp this is what my friends and i used to do.
We would go to a friend's house who was moonlighting at repairing pc, each one of us armed with our hard drives. Then we would plug our drive on a usable pc and start a lan party.
My windows must have drivers...
Well I gave up and reset the whole thing.
Start -> Settings -> Update and Security -> Recovery -> Reset this PC
The computer is now way faster than before. And there's no mouse stutter whatsoever in the 2 hours of testing; at least not yet.
My suspicion about the stutter is because I moved my...
I'm using catalyst.
Used to have random BSOD after upgrading to windows 10 where it says THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER or something like that which is apparently graphic card related. Had to wait for an updated driver which fixed most of the random BSOD but it does happen from time to time...
Almost as soon as I upgraded from Win 8.1 to Win 10 Pro I noticed this very annoying tendencies where my mouse lags / stutters when cpu usage is high.

My computer spec is rather underwhelming since I will be leaving the...
