Actually this is a bug in GA-P55M-UD2. This behavior happens with the legacy support enabled in BIOS (that's why it works when you re-plug the USB keyboard). Gigabyte fixed the issue in later BIOS releases. Edit: I got to this thread looking for the UD2 motherboard and I guess I've mistaken its...

This is a little old now but unplugging and re-plugging the USB keyboard does the trick. But I guess that by now you've already upgraded to the newer BIOS releases which have resolved the issue (I now that at least F4k has it fixed).
