    DVD to MPEG

Never had any DVD in the house. Thinking about buying a simple, inexpensive but reliable internal DVD and converting to mpeg4 via tom's hardware article. Questions: 1. Recommend and source for the DVD player. 2. If I used a V3's tv out to play the dvd or the mpeg4, what would it look like. As...

Advice on upgrading from a PIII 650

I had a 600e on a bx6.2 and a handful of 133 ram, I found the KT133a and a t-bird 1000 running at 1200 a damn nice rig. But these guys got a point, your current stuff will probably run 800+ if you turn up the bus speed.

Epox 8KTA3 AGP bios driving force values

Does anyone know what the values mean, they are all letters and numbers with no explanation. I have a V5 that runs well at 190, but all games won't run at that speed and I'm looking for tweaks.

BX6-R2. whats the highest multipler ?

We're saying an 850 will run at 850 even if your bios doesn't go to 8.5 I tested a couple celerons in my bh6.2, their multipliers were 9.5 My bios didn't go that high but as Compuwiz states the hardcode info of the cpu will override the bios's limitation. All you have to do is check the...

    Cant hardcode the multiplier

Some people have to change the hardcode L6 on the Epox so it'll make it into the bios. your 1 gig L6 looks like this .l::: make it like this------------ .l:l: That is paint/pencil the value of 2 closed changing the hardcode multiplier from 10 to 8. That'll make it about 1060 default when it...

Tbird: To 266FSB or not to 266FSB?

You can make a 200 model run at 266 buy unlocking the multipliers. Before the 266's came out recently, that's how everyone ran at 266. http://www1.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1345&p=3

    Computer City's IBM UPS add

They have an IBM 500va UPS #OfficePro 500 on sale. $100 minus $60 in rebates. I've never had a UPS and I need something, normally I use a Belkin $40/$50 surge protector. Any opinions on the thing they offer?

Bios settings for epox 8kta3 overclocking

Well I guess your L6 looks like this?: .:ll: On the Epox some of us have had to change the L6 to mod the default multiplier to a lower # in order to get into the bios. Your's would be difficult because you need to cut a bridge rather than join one. You could try setting the multiplier as low...

Geforce3 is now out and about

"selling it for about 540 bucks meanwhile they have the prophet 2 ultra for 500 bucks linkified geez folks get a grip its only 40 more bucks" So I'm supposed to feel lucky it's only $540? :)

Poll: Searching for 'the' upgrade path. Could use opinions: Stick with Slot 1 or go AMD?

Well the 700 is obviously worth more than the 450. What you give her is your choice. Buying a slot1 board doesn't have much of a future. I'd sell the 700 and go AMD.

KT7A & 1.1 GHZ T-Bird Means No More BX Chipset For Me!

Set it up on the 133 FSB, that's what the KT133A is for. Well, you'd have to connect the bridges, but a defogger kit and a simple magnifying glass make it easy.

    Epox8KTA3 Problems!!!!!!!!!!

You do to change the hardcode multiplier, and the Epox seems to need this. It's easy to do on a 1 gig, all you have to do is close two of the bridges. On a 1.2 gig, you have to cut some that are factory closed. Busta and I went through this already, so take our word for it. I also recommend...

    Is there a noticable difference between a 1GHz P3 and a 1.2GHz T-bird?

Try an AMD rig, I just did my first. A kt133a board and a 1000 clocked to 1200. Costs less, tastes great. All "those drivers" consisted of running the 4 in 1's off the MB CD and getting a usb patch from microsoft for W98SE.

    Epox8KTA3 and the 133 FSB

You may also need to change the hardcoded multiplier, otherwise it'll have to be able to boot at 1333 for a second while it gets into bios. Mod the L6 by closing a bridge, making the multiplier 8 instead of 10.
