Memory failure - Memtest - please help

Corsair don't do the memory I had any more, but they've sent me something similar, which is good enough.

I had no idea about that. Does that apply worldwide? That would be perfect.

Memory failure - Memtest - please help

Thanks again for the help. I have (eventually) found the bad DIMM. I passed a couple of passes the first time I tried it, but after two DIMMs lasted 8 passes, I tried it overnight, and it failed in less than 2 minutes. So I ran the other 2 together for 8 passes, over 16 hours, no errors. Memtest...

Memory failure - Memtest - please help

Thanks for the reply. I haven't got that far yet, but it shouldn't be a slot, as I use the 3 slots usually with my 3 * 2GB, with no issues. I've just finished testing a 2nd DIMM, for nearly 9 hours, 8 passes. Will do the last one overnight. If that works, maybe I'll do a pair, or I'll try one...

Memory failure - Memtest - please help

I set the timings to 9-9-9-24, inserted the 3 * 4GB sticks and ran memtest. Memtest failed in under 2 minutes.

Memory failure - Memtest - please help

    This is the only time I've had to deal with memory failure, so I don't know what I'm doing :) I built my PC close to 10 years ago: i7 930 Asus p6x58d-e https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P6X58DE/ 6 GB Corsair XMS 3 DDR3 TR3X6G1600C9 - 3 lots of 2 GB - timing 9-9-9-24 1.65V A few years after I...

SSD and Marvell sata 3 issues - possible move to sata 2

Confidence picking up, I've not had an error since 1st Jan.

SSD and Marvell sata 3 issues - possible move to sata 2

Thanks. I will start loading everything, and see how I get on with sata3 (6gbs). Probably back to sata2 in a few days.

SSD and Marvell sata 3 issues - possible move to sata 2

Great, thanks. If doing that, would I leave the MB set to AHCI? I don't yet know what the RST driver is. I'm not running a raid set-up, just one SSD. My intel connections are just sata 2.

SSD and Marvell sata 3 issues - possible move to sata 2

Happy new year all I have an Asus P6x58D-E and a new Crucial M4 128gb SSD. I have updated my MD bios to the latest 0701, my M4 has the latest version 0009 firmware, and I'm currently trying the Marvell 1.0.0.1045 driver for my Sata 3 connections. When this fails (I have low confidence right...

Crucial’s M4 SSD is inherently faulty - AVOID

Really? I rely on my PC, but I don't back up my OS. I back up important data all the time, but if my OS drive crashed it would be a pain I'd rather avoid. But having had a PC since 1994, and having never had a single drive failed (I realise I'm going to now), I am probably a little complacent...

    6950 flashed to 6970

Yep, that sounds just like investors. Down the pub after work... Investor 1 - Good day today, made a packet on the shift in oil price Investor 2 - Yeah I didn't get in on that, I've been concentrating my investments in AMD recently, and while my sentiment is that it's great that geeks have got...

An easy one: What's the best VC for a 520W PSU?

I'd get the 6950 and flash it to be a 6970. Even if you didn't do that, it's a good choice. Flashed it has similar performance to a 570, but is a lot cheaper (at least it is in the UK). But that's only if you could do with the improved performance. If your current card is good enough, then wait...

    greater than 100% scaling? really?

Don't be rude Seero, I've spent some time explaining to you the flaw with your equation. I haven't tried to keep the number under 2, I've told you how it is worked out (ie, why it's not simply 133% x 133% x 133%). If 2 cards are scaling above 100% (allowing for errors) that's because of...

    greater than 100% scaling? really?

Yes I agree, but picking a spike on one graph and showing it against a graph from a different setup run at a different time is not an example of >2x scaling. That's two different things. Margin for error is one thing, a spike on one graph against a different graph run at a different time is...
