Usenet is great, it's interesting to see providers are offering cheaper unlimited download plans - I wonder if their retention and completion is really as good as they claim for these prices. I personally use Easynews for the convenience of their web interface and global search, but they only...
A little program called SpinRite would likely solve your problems. Unfortunately it is a bit on the expensive side.
Of course, first make sure it's not a hardware issue like a cable coming loose.
OP if you're still around - The stock Scythe Ninja Rev B DOES NOT fit properly on the reference 680i boards.
Look right above the CPU socket and you'll see 2 little "R50"'s. Even though the Ninja snapped onto the board, it is hitting these chips and not making full contact with the CPU...
Don't have amex, but I requested the 20% coupon last week when I saw it, and sat on it hoping for something like this extra 15% off to happen :)
Had been on the fence, but finally pulled the trigger at $574 shipped to California after FatCash. Could have done DPA for another $11 off but...
You should be able to keep the fan there, you just have to move it to the other side from it's default position.
The PSU was a little bit of a pain to install, but for the rock solid rails and cool performance, it's worth it.
I have the 750, I think they're the same but just to give you some initial impression - it fits the P180 but is so long (the PSU itself) it requires removing the lower bay fan. Both power cords reach on my eVGA 680i board, which are about as far away from the PSU as possible, but they're both...
Though I wanted an 8800, there's not really any games I desperately want to play until after x-mas, so I just bought an EVGA 7900GS for my new core2 system, then will step up in 90 days when the 8800GTX is hopefully closer to $450-500 and drivers are worked out.
This was a great deal! $60 cheaper than Newegg, thanks OP. This persuaded me to start building my system tonight.
I got the last one off the shelf in Sunnyvale :)
Ah, my favorite thing to laugh at what I walk around CC and invariably pass by HTIB's: voices playing through subs crossed at 200Hz :)
Good clean, accurate and fast bass is what makes a system for me. I'd rather use my TV's speakers with an entry level SVS sub than suffer through a HTIB's...
In the future if all else fails I recommend a program called SpinRite, it works miracles. If it's a mechanical problem you can also read up on freezing your hard drive - supposedly it tends to allow a hard drive to work long enough to pull the data off.
People that are surprised their hard drive is smaller than advertised probably wouldn't know how to open their computer, much less find the hard drive and its serial number.
