If I could get a SIS755 chipset motherboard I would try the Athlon64 3000+. Are these available yet?

I would definately be overclocking with either chip. Looks like the consensus is to go P4. Since the cost difference is minimal which would be a better overclock candidate the 2.4C or the 2.6? Looking at the ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe.

I'm building a new system and I have decided to go budget on the CPU until the next round of processors from Intel and AMD come out. What would be the most bang for the buck the Athlon64 3000+ or a Pentium 4 2.4 or 2.6? I don't play many games but I will use the system for a little MP3 ripping...
