Update, it gave me some artifacts again. I then closed down the entire object dock program and it ran fine, ran object dock back up without the tab dock ran just fine. Must be the tab dock then....

Just I found the solution to my problem. I was loading up a dvd in my computer and notice that power dvd was giving me a black screen. I then remembered that I had just loaded object dock (full version) and had the tab dock in the uppper left hand corner along with windows tool bar hidden up...

I don't think anyone should settle for a defective card. I just put in my RMA for a new one, hopefully that will resolve the problem. I was told by one of EVGA phone rep that they are doing some type of modification with the new card to relieve this problem. We'll see.....

If it is a bad card should I have to down clock the mem for most games/applications that tax the card not just FEAR?

I have down clock and it does play fine which is what you just described above. But it only happens with FEAR and no other games that I have like Oblivion, BF2, CoD2. I also ran 3dmark05 and 06 with no problem. What do you guys think?

Hi all, After recently installing my new EVGA 7900gt superclocked everything ran smooth, no problems with the new driver 84.21. However, when I played FEAR today for the first time since the new install, it crash and reboot my rig automatically, I tried it again and this time it didn't reboot...

If you are gonna thinking about replacing the stock cooler then just get the no KO for now. I have the superclock 7900gt and load temp is around 57. I can hear it, but it not loud or annoying, but then again noise level is subjective. Good luck.

You could always do the volt mod thing and make the 7900gt faster. I am currently runnining the same card as you at 580/1720, but I am thinking about upgrading to the x1900xt just to have some head room down the road with the extra memory. Hope this helps...

do you guys think it would be worth changing from the 7900gt to the x1900xt. Currently I am running my EVGA 7900gt at 580core and 1720mem. Runs most of my games at 1280x1024: BF2, FEAR, CoD2, Oblivion just fine. I know the x1900xt is faster and the pic quality is "better," but will I notice...

I would probably get the XXX version just because it is already clocked at the higher speed and since you are not going to volt mod. You could get the vanilla one and clock it up, but there is no guarranty that you will get there. As far as the frame rates I am not sure about the munbers, but...
