I dont need a 5.1 setup necessarily. Primarily, this will be used for music and am looking for clean output all the way through the frequency range. I am fairly picky about sound quality when it comes to music.

I am looking for a quality speaker setup for my computer. Will be mostly playing high-bitrate music tracks coupled with a x-fi xtreme music sound card. Budget is around $250 or so.

is there a reason why my laptop has a 512mb stick and a 256mb stick but only reads it as having 640mb of memory? Is that how laptops read and utilize the memory? is it because my onboard video card has shared memory? I think thats the reason, but im just makin sure.
