    R9 380 4GB new or used R9 290?

An OCed 290(x) is just as fast, if not faster, than a 480; at least for now. You can pick up a 290 for less than $200 shipped used. A 480 would be more than that, if you can manage to get one.

Xbox One S gets 16nm FinFET SoC (TSMC)

This is just the slim version. It's not Scorpio. The fact that they increased the performance at all is surprising. Usually they just do a direct shrink and leave everything the same.

Question about Flashing RX 480 Bios

Oh! Sorry, I thought you were doing a custom bios. You can change the bios switch after boot up. I would suggest flashing using the DOS version. I've had some issues flashing using the Windows version.

what new gpu should I get.

    He's at 4K. The 480 is useless at 4K.

Of those, the Nano is the best for 4K.

    Next-gen API benches for RX 480 & 1060.

They've done a great job with the upgrade process. I've upgraded 10 computers in the last few weeks and every single one has been flawless. This is a huge contrast with my personal computer when 10 first came out. If you are really against 10, I would do the upgrade anyways, then roll back...

A call to ALL Nvidia owners - It's time to check our latency

What does the higher latency affect?

    Who bought/is buying a Radeon RX 480?

The Nitro was a little disappointing in performance, although they didn't touch the memory OC. I'm thinking of picking up a used 290/290X and OC it to tide me over. It'll be almost another month before I'll be able to grab a 480 and some of the newer games are starting to have stability...

    Next-gen API benches for RX 480 & 1060.

I agree. It's interesting that Nvidia would release the Titan so early; seems like a cash grab to me.

    i7-6700k+RX480 vs. i5-6600k+GTX1070 upgrade

That's with current games. What about future ones? I vote i7 and 480. It'll be a more future proof machine. Look at how well the GCN cards hold up with time.

Official AMD Polaris Review Thread: Radeon RX 480, RX 470, and RX 460

Thank you for that post. I keep wanting to pull the trigger on a used 290x/390x, but then I see posts like yours that help me wait for the AIB 480s.

Now We All See the Genius of AMD Going Lowend First

And lose backwards compatibility? Wouldn't happen. If anything, it would be backwards. AMD locked themselves in even more.
