Need advice for building a new rig for son: Ryzen 5 3600

I should have been more specific, sorry. He has no OS, of any kind, right now. But, he does have keyboard, mouse, headset & speakers. It is a 580 on my list and would rather spend the $80 to keep the 3600. Does everything look compatible?

I'm trying to help my son finish his gaming build. He only plays LOL on a 40" flat screen samsung tv. He still needs, of course, all the expensive hardware: cpu/mb/memory/gpu. How long will a $200 to $300 GPU stay relevant. Do you need to upgrade more often than CPU's?

thanks for the quick response. I'll look thru those suggested builds and see if anything is on sale, and then make a final decision and get the ball rolling. I assume windows 10 is my best bet over windows 8 ?

Correct, $400 was my top. Not buying a copy of Windows OS. Has anyone compared the quality of the HP 14" screen to the Acer 11.6" screen?
