Fixed it. I reset the CMOS and I can now boot normally. Sheesh! What a headache. Thanks, everyone.

Dell Optiplex 960 RAM Error Message

Update: I've tried different RAM sticks from another Dell machine, and I still get the same error message. How do I go about clearing this error message? Thank you.

Dell Optiplex 960 RAM Error Message

Everything was fine with this Optiplex 960 I bought surplused, in perfect condition. I installed Windows 7, ran updates and away we go. I hit the power button this morning and before Windows even starts, I get this error message: "MIXING ECC AND NON-ECC DIMMs IS NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS...

    Graphics Card Power Cable

Update: Apparently there are adapter cables that might solve my problem: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?seq=1&format=2&p_id=8494&CAWELAID=1329456953&cagpspn=pla&gclid=CLPHstWC-LQCFal7QgodDgYA1w Assuming my 305w power supply will support this additional load? Thanks again.

    Graphics Card Power Cable

Again...there are NO video cards available now that don't require the extra power cable? None? Except for the HD7750?

    Graphics Card Power Cable

The hd7750 might be my only hope, as I have NO extra power cable available from the PS. Thanks for your continued support.

    Graphics Card Power Cable

Quadro FX 3450, needed to run AVID video editing software. It's older, but it works (but that fan is a bit too loud.) This isn't a critical project, I'm just knocking together what parts I have in a used Dell box. (I'm actually experimenting with a Hackintosh, if you know what I mean.) A new...

    Graphics Card Power Cable

The only white Molex is the small floppy drive connector that I mentioned earlier. It's at the end of its own, short cable coming from PS. There are only two other power cables coming from PS, both have black SATA power connections, two are in use (optical and main HD.) Thanks!

    ASUS RT-NT12 Intermittent Broadcasting

Yes, you need to unzip the file first. (Just yesterday I was uploading/installing a Drupal theme as a ZIP file, so I automatically assumed a ZIP file was OK.) I've updated the OS and I'm not broadcasting smoothly, for the time being. I've downloaded the Tomato update and would like to know a...

    ASUS RT-NT12 Intermittent Broadcasting

Thanks to both of you! I'm now working on a firmware upgrade, but the config page throws an error when I try to upload the ZIP file from my desktop. And yes, the file is the correct firmware upgrade for this exact model, RT-N12B1. I'll stick with it but I can't see what the problem is...

    ASUS RT-NT12 Intermittent Broadcasting

Sound familiar? I just replaced my flaky, low-budget Frye's wireless router with an ASUS model RT-NT12, and after only a month or two of perfect service, it TOO is flaking out. I can get it to broadcast again by unplugging the router's power supply and plugging it in, again. It works...

Streaming Video From A Windows Machine

Thanks to both of you! I just downloaded Windows Media Encoder 9 x64, but as my hosting provider only runs LINUX servers, I'm still looking for a workaround. Configuring a streaming server of some sort seems to be my roadblock. This isn't critical; I'm just keeping busy, experimenting...

Streaming Video From A Windows Machine

Anyone have any luck or suggestions on how to stream video/audio from a Windows machine? I want to embed the streaming video into an HTML file, accessible from the Internet. Microsoft used to provide a utility that would stream your video/audio but it's not available any longer. I started...

    Fry's FR-300RTR Wireless Intermittent

Thanks, everyone. Right now, I can't even ping the web config page to do a firmware upgrade. 192.168.0.1 does not respond from any device or machine. Time to head out and pick up a new one.

    Fry's FR-300RTR Wireless Intermittent

These might be a no-brainer for most of you, but before I head down to Fry's for ANOTHER router I thought I'd ask first. This unit, an FR-300RTR, has been working fine for some time now, and I have DSL Internet service. Five devices rely on this router: 1. One PC (via Ethernet cable -...
