I can't actually answer your question except to say that i use the gigabyte on to connect to my (school) and i use the marvell with a 3' cable to connect directly to another computer for super-fast transfers between the two.

Vanvock, You have to manually enable a USB keyboard in the bios. Perhaps that was your problem. Also, for those of you upgrading your bios, be sure to do it correctly: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1541
