I haven't had this problem and I've tried the heat sink alone and with a fan. With the heat sink alone the idle is 34 degrees, very safe. Could be the other accounts broke a wire removing the heat sink.

I still have an extra assembly if anyone is interested.

I have had some trouble with SATA on the A8N-SLI. I exchanged the MB and Disk and all is well now.

I am having trouble with my A8N-SLI SATA as well. I have a samsung sata 80gb drive installed and the bios only recognizes it intermittently. If the bios detects it on startup then all is well but otherwise I have to keep rebooting until it acknowledges the drive. Anyone else have a similar...
