Off to Air Force Basic Training Soon...

lol Six weeks of learning how to wear your uniform and memorizing rank insignias. I went through three months of Marine Corps boot camp and I can't honestly believe anyone is really stressing about Air Force 'Basic Training.' But all inevitable inter-service rivalry aside, damned...

    What country owns rock'n'roll?

i think the history goes something like (correct me if I'm wrong): irish folk music + african rhythmic traditional tribal stuff => slave tunes, prison songs which evolved into (& coexisted with) blues. old country folk and traditional gospel music picks up blues technique & rhythm and...

Where O' where are the libs

lol, no content, no refutation, only personal attacks from the lefties. for instance: rac'ist adj. & n: A conservative winning an argument with a liberal.

Zarqawi said to be planning US hit

no win situation. if an attack happens, Bush didn't protect you. if an attack doesn't happen, it was all a Bush Administration deception. sweeeeeet!

EV + roof solar panels = Personal Energy Independence

I don't think wind turbines are worth it, not if something as simple as roofing your house in solar panels allows you to come out ahead. Edison would have to operate only to supply industry & other ventures that consume more energy than their roof area can sustain. The look of wind turbines on...

EV + roof solar panels = Personal Energy Independence

Heard on the radio that some guy in Seal Beach has solar panels on his house and charged his GM EV1 every night and still came out positive, putting more power on the grid than he took off. The lease on the EV1 expired & GM wouldn't let him renew, so (last I heard) he had a EV RAV4 from Toyota...

Does anyone think Iran will honestly use nuclear tech for just energy?

I wonder if it would be possible to call their bluff and build a nuke plant offshore (or at a neutral site, or an an embassy-like foriegn-owned parcel of land) and have the Russains man & maintain it. "You need power, ok we'll give you power." In exchange for whatever Russia was trying to get...

    Little poll about your priorities.

a lot of it is tied together, it seems. nukes are defensive historically, but would become immediately offensive in the hands of a terrorist, and terrorism is related to poverty... as is AIDS in Africa. African farmers can't make good money because of farm subsidies in developed nations that...

    Inspiron 9200 or HP zv5000z??

i just got my refurb 9200, the display is better than I expected. Got 256MB because upgrading aftermarket (newegg) is much cheaper than thru Dell. That's the only achilles heel that I can see, that chugging 256MB... it'll get rectified as soon as the UPS man shows up. I don't have access to...

Birthday Gift for a friend that plays the guitar.........

there are a number of cheap things that are fun to play with as an intermediate guitarist, if he/she doesn't have them already... like a capo or a slide or a pimp tuner. If you're a little more ambitious, maybe an ebow, volume pedal, wah pedal. Or maybe some pyrotechnics gear if he's into metal.

    Thinking about "jamming" a wal-mart

there's some kind of surfboard wax you can scrape onto rough concrete that goes on more or less clear... then it picks up the dirt off people's shoes and slowly what was written becomes legible. I hear it's a pain in the ass to clean off, but I'm not too up on it.
