Optimal drive connection to SATA controllers? (GA-P35-DS4)

I have a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4. I have two Seagate SATA hard drives and one SATA DVD burner (Lite-On LH-20A1S). The motherboard has 8 SATA connectors - 6 on the ICH9R and 2 on a Gigabyte SATA controller. I plugged the two disk drives into a pair of the ICH9R ports (0 and 1), and the DVD drive...

Suggestions for Mobo with unique requirements

The GA-P35-DS4 (rev2) has a contradiction. The web site says no parallel on header, but the manual shows it as having parallel and com ports on headers. I'm inclined to believe the manual. The P35-DS4 sounds good, since I would like spend less than the ~~$300 that the X38-DQ6 is going for.

Suggestions for Mobo with unique requirements

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I'm currently leaning toward the Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6. It only has 2 PCI's but it has Firewire, Parallel, and PS2 connectors on-board, so I don't have to add any new boards or adapters. I can live with only two PCI slots - it has 3 PCIE slots in case I need to...

Suggestions for Mobo with unique requirements

The MSI P6N Platinum, the DFI INFINITY NF650i ULTRA-T2, and the GIGABYTE GA-N650SLI-DS4 do not appear to support DDR2 1066 memory. Other than that, they are fine. With a 1333MHz FSB CPU like the E6850, wouldn't the DDR2 1066 be beneficial for performance?

Suggestions for Mobo with unique requirements

I'm looking for a motherboard for a machine for use in audio recording. I'm looking for Intel Core2 motherboards with 1066 DDR2 RAM support. I want maximum expansion capability. The primary system requirement is low noise, so no fans on the north or south bridge. It will not be used for...

Best "silent" or quiet power supplies

In the past I have purchased PCP&C Silencer supplies, but they have not really been that quiet. I notices that stock Dell systems are often quieter. I would like to find a high quality PS that is in the range of 400 watts, that is not really expensive. This is for a audio recording studio...

Chipset "limitations" would prevent use of DOS utilities?

I have seen warnings about 965-based motherboards that are not compatible with Win98/ME. I'm not planning on installing those OS versions, but I do have important utility and image backup programs that need to boot to a DOS environment. Does anybody know exactly what the compatibility issue...
