You left off one option, the motherboard :) The parts that were all unstable on my Gigabyte mobo work just fine on my MSI one, including the 3500+ and Corsair Twin1024-3200XL PRO. I have two MSI Neo 2 plats, and both of them passed 48 hours of Prime95 torture test. The biggest part of the...

Darn, that stinks! The MSI I have installed currently was flawless in a 24 hour Prime95 torture test in dual channel. I've got another one sitting here in the box. If I get a chance in the next day or so, I'll swap them and see if the other MSI has issues. This has definitely been more of...

The BSOD's during Windows install got me too. I thought it was a SATA problem since it was blowing up during the drive detection phase of the install. If you pull one of the sticks of RAM, or move it down a slot so it goes into single channel mode, the problem goes away, and the install goes...

The LED on the MSI mobo is working perfectly with activity on the nVidia SATA bus, in single drive and RAID mode, so I don't think it's a chipset issue. I noticed the same SATA drive LED issue with the Gigabyte mobo, and wasn't able to fix it. On the MSI board, I wasn't getting any LED...

    MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum?

Gongo, if you're going to keep the RAM at DDR400, there's only one way to go, IMHO, and that's with Corsair TWINX1024-3200XLPRO. I nicknamed them "Wallet Busters" a few posts back :D, because they run 315.00 a pair at newegg, but they have 2-2-2-5 timings @ DDR400 and gave me an instant 15-20%...

    GA-K8NSNXP-939

I had the exact same problem. The only way I got it to even be stable with dual channel RAM was setting the memclock to 166MHz, which is a pretty crappy way of getting a 200+ dollar board to behave. I hope it's something they can fix with a BIOS patch, because it really was a nice board. I've...

Congrats on getting a good one! It really is a nice board, with dual everything, and more accessories than you usually get on any two other motherboards combined. I would definitely recommend it if they can fix the memory issues lots of people are seeing, especially if it's a simple BIOS revision.

Yup, I did an RMA on my K8N-939 almost a month ago due to memory problems in dual channel mode. I tried three different brands of 512MBx2 RAM, including Corsair 2-2-2-5 "WalletBuster" sticks :D and none of them were stable without dropping the mem clock to 166. They all worked perfectly in...

    MSI K8N NEO 2 available

I was disappointed to find out that even though I pre-ordered my Neo2 on Aug 2nd from Monarch I didn't make the first batch. What makes it even worse is that I was only a 20 minute drive away from them this afternoon, and was hoping to pick it up since I've been without a socket 939 mobo for 3...
