Gigabyte 7970 ghz edition or evga 680+ 4gb with backplate

If I stay with my 1600x900 monitor, Would it pay for me to upgrade my 660ti to a 680? I currently have an Asus DirectCU II OC Edition. And I saw a Zotac GTX 680 for only $80 more at $344 when I paid $263 for my 660ti. Would I really see any FPS increases at my resolution? Or would it just be a...

Gigabyte 7970 ghz edition or evga 680+ 4gb with backplate

Anyone have any solid recommendations on a good quality monitor. My computer desk area really can't fit anything bigger than a 20" monitor. A higher resolution though, Would probably be more than sufficient.

Gigabyte 7970 ghz edition or evga 680+ 4gb with backplate

Thanks Guys, You are seriously the best! I ended up getting an i5 3570k, a MSI Z77A-G41 Motherboard, an additional 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 660ti video card, all for only slightly more than what the 7970 or 680 would have cost me. Plus, I can now sell my old MB, Processor, Video Cards, And RAM to...

Gigabyte 7970 ghz edition or evga 680+ 4gb with backplate

With the 660ti, Will that be enough for my 1600x900 resolution to max out all games on Ultra? Or will a 7870XT be better for such? Guess I am just worried about the 192 Bandwidth of the 660ti.

Gigabyte 7970 ghz edition or evga 680+ 4gb with backplate

So, Is i5 faster than 8350 then overall? And the 7870 is the xt version. Does that change anything? Will the 660ti or the 7870 xt which is much better than a regular 7870, be better?

Gigabyte 7970 ghz edition or evga 680+ 4gb with backplate

How does this sound. Either 3570 i5 or AMD 8350 and motherboard for about $200-$240 Extra 8GB DDR3 RAM for $58 Maxing my system to 16GB of RAM And either a 660ti for $238 or a 7870 LE for $249. What would you go with out of that for best performance?

To assume that I am "Trolling" or otherwise being a prick just because I otherwise can be, Is not only completely wrong, but quite inappropriate. I am merely try to get the best system I can for my cash at hand. You can think whatever you want though. But I mean no one any disrespect.

Gigabyte 7970 ghz edition or evga 680+ 4gb with backplate

Okay, Another idea would be to get an AMD 4.0ghz 8350 Black Edition processor, this motherboard: http://www.microcenter.com/product/398235/M5A97_R20_Socket_AM3_ATX_AMD_Motherboard I could still utilize my 8GB of DDR3 1333 And to then get either a 7950 for $271 or a 660ti for $258. Any help...

Gigabyte 7970 ghz edition or evga 680+ 4gb with backplate

So, With even the games I played considered. Would the 680 still be the better choice over the 7970 GE?

Gigabyte 7970 ghz edition or evga 680+ 4gb with backplate

Well, The 7970 I am looking at is a GE, but is voltage locked. The 680 is a 4GB EVGA with Backplate.

Gigabyte 7970 ghz edition or evga 680+ 4gb with backplate

Only thing on the 680 that I am not sure is a limitation is the 256 bit memory bandwidth vs the 384 on the AMD.

Gigabyte 7970 ghz edition or evga 680+ 4gb with backplate

Currently, I am running a 9800 GTX. I tried a 7770 for a bit, and that was faster yet. Not sure if AMD might just run better on my system.

My monitor before this was an even lower resolution yet. Guess I just want a top premium model card for once, lol.

Gigabyte 7970 ghz edition or evga 680+ 4gb with backplate

So, Do I get a voltage locked 7970 ghz, or do I get an EVGA 680 4GB with Backplate? Will the 680 overclock higher and therfore outperform the voltage locked 7970 ghz?
