    My experience with Hackintosh

i ripped out my old soundblaster audigy 2 which had a firewire 400 port on it. it worked perfectly. the firewire port, not the sound. when i was searching the insanelymac forums, i think the consensus was anything with a ti chipset should be fine.

@bigmacattack: Just note that my install rebooted twice and seemed to hang the second time (the little spinny thing stopped spinning) but you could still hear disk activity so don't freak out. :D EDIT: This is for the 10.5.2 Kalyway update

@Kaido: Thanks, works great. @kalster: It reports 4 cores. Everything is running smoothly @ 2.7GHz! This is a great feeling. @bigmacattack: I just updated to 10.5.2 using the Kalyway updater. Didn't have to do anything beforehand, and I used the Kalyway 10.5.1 installer originally to install.

Hey kalster. I figured it out. Turns out it is user error (big surprise). Turns out my clock multiplier was set at 6 rather than 9. 266 * 6 = 1,596 Changed the multiplier to 9 to give me the 2.4GHz. While I was at it I went ahead and bumped the bus speed to 300 ;P Hopefully it will hold...

Hey guys. Just got back home and started working on the Hackintosh again. @kalster: Thanks so much. Changing that allowed me to boot from Vanilla kernel. What a relief! @Kaido: Geekbench reports the correct proc speed, but OS X is still reporting 1.6 GHz unknown. When searching the IM...

UPDATE: Finally got Kalyway to install successfully using GUID Vanilla Kernel + ACPI Fix and the GUID EFI bootloader thanks to everyone's help. But now I've run into another snag. Now when the bootloader loads OS X, about 1 second or so into the load it reboots. The messages flash too quickly...

Just for clarification, I tried installing again. It fails with "Less than a minute remaining". The error is "The installer encountered an unknown error that failed the install..." Not sure if that helps, but maybe the timing is more important. It almost completes.

Kaido, I had a quick question. I was wondering what BIOS settings, if any, I should change on my DFI LanParty DK T2RS. Or do the BIOS settings not matter? The one thing I changed was the SUSPEND mode to S3. I tried configuring SATA as AHCI, but had problems booting after that so I changed it...
