Ok, so perhaps my goal of 60 fps at all times was a little lofty. Mostly I'm tired of getting under 20 fps in cities and other graphics intensive areas. Regardless I think I'm going to go with an 8800 series since not only are they very fast but they're quiet. I think what I'm going to do is...
Really? Do you have 2 GB RAM and a sufficiently fast processor? FOr some reason I kinda figured an 8800GTX would handle everything that wow could throw at it no problem...
It looks like the 8800GTS is gonna be my best bet. The question is, how much benefit will I get with a 640MB over a...
Remember, I'm talking high stress areas with lots of people/spell effects in it. Are you guys really sure a x1950pro will be able to handle that at 1920x1200? It seems kinda low to me. How much faster is it than an x800? Significantly?
And btw, the 20-40 fps is no aa/af. I'd like to be...
And that includes 25 man raids and Alterac Valley (for those that are familiar with the game). I know WoW isn't terribly graphics intensive but my current 256MB x800 (factory oc'd memory) only manages 20-40 fps depending on what I'm doing at the time. I've debated getting an 8800GTS but I have...
Color me naive but wouldn't this work if you could remove the excess pins without somehow damaging the part (which would be the hard part obviously...). I seem to recall a test somewhere (Tom's?) of someone taping over the pins to simulate x8/x4/x2/x1 speeds. So theoreticly it'd work if you...
I've never had any problems, I orderered 2 CPU/Mobo combos (a couple months a part, my and my brother's computer upgrade) from them and other misc parts from newegg. As I recall on the first one Monarch arrived first (could have been the other way around by they were within 24 hours of one...
My brother's Leadtek is 300 core/575 mem (ddr)
200 seems awful low but not necessarily out of th realm of possibility if they used cheap ram and went away from nvidia specs...
No one finds this latest tidbit about the temps interesting? It'd be neat if someone else did a test with a normal fan heatsink to see if it makes a temprature difference.
Mmm, no I haven't tried that. I haven't found volts useful for much of anything other than making my componets hotter. Even pushing 2.9v my memory wasn't stable at 210 2-3-3-6 which is only 5% over stable anyhow. Not sure what, if any, effect that would have on the CPU overclock. I...
Ok, I seem to have found a fix to the problem, though that only treats the symptom. If I switch my primary and secondary monitors there and back it fixes the second problem. I haven't restarted yet but if I had to guess that'll undo my fix and I'll have to do it every boot, we'll see.
I did...
I'm still not so sure maybe Gigabyte didn't decide to impliment something themselves since its a passivly cooled card.
Anyone know why there'd be no FPS difference from ~250 all the way upto 400 core clock? I suppose that that's the point where I no longer have any idle clock cycles, but my...
Except that ATI tool only displays one clock setting and any manipulation I do above 250ish sems to do nothing to windowed mode. I only notice a difference if I UNDERCLOCK it from the desktop clock (for example I can really throw my FPS down noticably by going from 250 to 150. There is also a...
