John...Thanks for keeping me honest. Looks like I made the novice error of choosing the "Quad Socket" rather than Single. :(
But I would "Feel Better :) with a PSU of 500+ :)
Thanks for the excellent comments:)
I agree Dell would warranty any failure....
I was at the Dell site tonight and found the system that was spec'd out but it looks like to me they picked a lower end Workstation (with a 375W PSU) and then spec'd it up to include high end CPUs and Raid 5...
My employer is about to pull the trigger on a 2 Dell Workstations that only have a 375W PSU and this seems a bit low to me considering the following vitals:
PROCESSOR Intel Extreme QX6850 (3.00GHz/1333MHz/2X4MB L2) 375W
VIDEO CARD 512MB PCIe x16 nVidia Quadro FX1700, Dual Monitor DVI Cable...
Would the Abit board be better or the ASUS P5E LGA 775 Intel X38 to drive the 2 each 30" monitors at Recommended Resolution 2560 x 1600?
Also, should I go for a Quadro FX 3500 or 800GT a graphics card for the intended use of this system? The Quadro price is out of sight ~$800 vs ~$300 for...
I need help selecting mobo for q6600 cpu but that will also work with Penryn (later after price decline).
The system is more for work and not gaming...AutoCard, Microstation, & other cpu intensive apps and the system will drive 2 x 30" monitors.
I'm currently looking at the ASUS P5E LGA...
I installed the Nvidia Ethernet Driver and afterwards I could not draw my Network Map in the Network and Sharing Center.
I just rolled back the Nvidia Driver to the one Vista installed during setup and all is fine.
As best I can tell the new Ethernet Driver (v65.55) WHQL must be breaking...

I forgot to mention in my post that the picture does not show it but I looked to see where the bare wire would hit and it looks as though the cable gets pushed up toward the top of the DVD Drive and actually folds back on top of...
I had this happen when reinstalling XP and it turned out my CD Drive was dirty. I ran a cleaner and it installed perfectly. If you have a second CD/DVD drive try it.
Good Luck:)
First, I'm having difficulty with ESD causing my motherboard to fail catistrophically. It has now occurred 2 times in essentially the same way - on the external portion of the case.
I'm hoping that the you Pros here can provide some helpful comments/suggestions for me to find the solution...
Update to my ACPI Issue:
1. Updated to latest BIOS however problem remains.
2. I had a response from ASUS and they suggested I update the driver for the ATK0110 Utility Driver. They have new drivers for Vista 32bit and 64 bit. However, after updating my driver, the errors remain...
Based on discussions on MS Technet Forum, looks like lots of others are having similar problem with ACPI. Seems to be related to drivers/bios updates that should get resolved soon after Vista release.;)
