After using some ensolite closed cell foam to deaden the inside of the drive cage and to decouple the drive from the cage and the cage from the rest of the case I can barely hear the Raptor anymore. Here's some geek porn: http://home.comcast.net/~woods...lverstone/IMG_1122.JPG...

I'll give that a try Roguestar. I'm also going to try some things from my car audio days to deaden the case itself. Just have to make sure I preserve air flow.

Well, got everything installed and OS loaded last night. I'm not sure the Raptor was such a jet hot idea. It spins plenty quiet but read/writes sound like an enraged gerbal is trying to bash its way out of the case with a miniature hammer :(. I'll try some things to dampen it a bit.....we...

Newegg has the DFI for $108 which looks like a pretty good deal compared to what I see on some other sites. I don't mind starting with a single 500GB HD, but I would like to have RAID available depending on how much I use it for a media PC.

Great info! Thanks again. I want to get quality pieces but I also don't want to be throwing money away where I don't need to. So I appreciate the suggestions for alternatives. d3lt4, I'll fix my profile and PM you. Didn't realize I had PM turned off. If I can get the E6400 it will be at...

Thanks for the PSU info, these are exactly the kind of recommendations I need. Based on reviews it looks solid, and quiet which is important. Will 450W be sufficient since I don't plan to double up on video cards? Even at the 520W that I original picked, I was curious if someone might say it...

OK, since this is my first post I'll try to make it as complete as possible.... I want to build a PC primarily for gaming. I'm currently playing BF2 (never got into 2142) and some COD4. I plan to set this up in the living room since I've been using our 1080p LCD. I need everything soup to...
