    AMD Thuban X6 OCing database

I'm using a gigabyte ga-890gpa I can manually change my cvore. In the bios, I can switch voltage control to manual. It default v core to 1.475V. I can go up or down in increments of 0.025V. I was playing with these voltages I could not run stable at 3.5Ghz if I set my voltage below 1.425V...

    AMD Thuban X6 OCing database

Hi guys, I'm trying to overclock my 1055t and have some questions. I have a gigabyte 890 ga-890gpa motherboard and 8Gb ram. I notice by default the bios reports a cpu voltage of 1.475V. This seems high but I'm not as concerned because it operates at a range of 1.22V to 1.47V depending on...

Avoid AMD AHCI driver at all costs

Thanks! I checked at it is set to Standard AHCI, so it looks like I'm already using Microsoft's. I noticed that not all of my SATA channels are set to Standard AHCI. Is this because I don't have anything hooked up to some of my SATA ports?

Avoid AMD AHCI driver at all costs

How do you check to see which AHCI driver is in use? I believe I have installed the AMD AHCI driver as it came with the latest Cayalyst driver package. From what I hear, it's best to not use the AMD one and just use the Microsoft one. If I'm using the AMD one, how do I switch to use the...

Help me decide between 2 processors

It would not be unusual for me to be running my custom application (data acquisition, control, etc...) that would be constantly be eating up cpu cycles. Having said that, I would never release an app that would eat up more than 10% of my cpu, so this is probably not a factor. It also looks...

Help me decide between 2 processors

I'm looking to build a new pc mainly for software development. I use National Instruments LabVIEW, and for anyone who has used it, it can be a resource hog. I may also use it for the occasional game, but nothing too serious. I've narrowed my choices for cpu to AMD 1055t and Intel core i5 750...

Really want to go dual monitor, need some help in choosing.

I've used a few dual monitor setups and heres my thoughts. I never span programs across both monitors. I find it distracting to have a gap in the middle of the screen, and pretty much any window could be used comfortably in one monitor. Where dual monitors become handy is having multiple...

    Computer restarts at random

Check your motherboard for leaky caps. I had the same symptoms a while ago and I noticed some of the caps on the mb were leaking. Not really worth fixing unless your good with that stuff. Try a different mobo or at least check the condition of the caps.
