go for it i got a celeron 2.66 to around 3.4 ghz with a crappy heatsink and crappy thermal paste (crappy temps too) but it was stable and no throttling (its only a celeron after all) so who cares if its hot!
i love my stock heatsnk i have the 3.0e and right now its overclocked to 3.46 @ 230fsb im so proud of it :) best thing about it? the fan still stays at the min. rpms unless im gaming.. its set to keep my proc. below 50c so i know that im under that nearly 100% of the time... i can get it to max...
buying new is for no0bs... why do you buy the latest pc parts? because they are better in every way than the previous part you have right? whens the last time auto technology took a leap of even 10% ? buy a used bmw or something .. you can get a 325 for 19,995 buy it now on ebay 27,000 miles if...
thanks for the help i need s478 cuz i have one already and im not keen on spending more $$ then i have too no reason to upgrade perfectly good 3.0e presscott... specially when im running 3.46 with stock cooler and novoltage adjustments... <-- bragging :)
i have it narrowed down to:
this or this
my main question is.. does anyone know about the overclockability of these two boards..
or does anyone have a better suggestion for me?
i think a good pair of scissor would make the cleanest cut..
or you could bunch them up they are very flexible.. and then dremel a few at a time.. think of it like a hair cut :)
i installed a water cooler made by them i thought it was great. it came with everything needed for only $100 including water block for cpu and gpu plenty of high quality abeit narrow tubing 2 radiators.. etc all fits in a 5.25 bay cept the second radiator :-p
i have an asrock board.. i originally set the timings as the sticker said 2.5-3-3-6 then found out one of the sticks is only rated for 2.5-4-4-8.. despite the sticker.. and then on top of that the ram is only rated 2.5-3-3-6 for single channel operation.. anyways it works better at the new...
not my worst per see sp.. whatever.. anyways anyone besides me tried to solder without using flux? i finally used some and i was like HOLY ^^$&%&#%@ this is easy :)
worst would be buying a motherboard with an agp slot and no agp support(865gv by asrock)... ie. it runs in pci mode... fix still...
i have geil value series 2x512mb i ran memtestx86 and it showed errors on a bunch of tests should rma this stuff? i've been getting errors while playing games.. it will crash to desktop after just a few minutes....
you can resize everything in the display part of control panel and i say the smaller the better! its under appearances if you use xp then you'll have go to the "classic" look i think? anyways it isnt a problem you cant work around
ide cables with master and slave devices can be cut :) so they only have 2 total connections... i did this with my micro atx case just this morning works just like normal
ide cable ---> }-------{----{
^cut here
mines about 4 inches ive seen some that...
you can do like i did and break off the tab when youre furious at the pc... then it'll never shut! btw if you press in just the right place it isnt too bad... hate that case
