    Web programming help

I'm confused by the "SQL not MySQL" distinction you are trying to draw. SQL is not a "backend". It's a language used to query and interact with relational databases. MySQL is one particular relational database product. It, like pretty much every DBMS, supports a certain subset of the SQL...

    php password

Doesn't have anything to do with PHP, per se. Just define the password field as a type="password" input element.

    Kaspersky ALERT OVER KAVICHS

I'm sure they are, but if you want to be sure, you can test a few files using Sysinternals' Stream app. If you don't see a KAVICHS stream associated with these, then the KAV ADS were removed successfully. Only if the application using the files reads the ADSs when it generates/calculates...

    Kaspersky ALERT OVER KAVICHS

I don't like this feature either, however you have the option to disable it during the installation process. When it asks "Use recommended settings", uncheck that box, then click next. On the subsequent window, uncheck the "use istreams technology" option.

    Double Layer DVD question

As someone pointed out earlier in the thread, there is a difference between commercially pressed dual layer DVD-ROM's and dual layer (DVD+R DL) recordable discs. And no, not all set top players (or DVD-ROM drives for that matter) will recognize/play DVD+R DL. The survey at videohelp.com...

Why is my SATA drive (OS installed) labeled E: and my secondary IDE is C: ?

It sounds like I followed the same install process you did -- Install XP with only the SATA and optical IDE drives connected, then add the PATA HDD later on. But it's never tried to change my drive letters on me...my SATA stays C: and my PATA stays D:. I wonder if it's due to my SATA drive...

    T-Mobile pre-paid phone deal

Virgin Mobile's pre-paid offering, despite it's cheesy teeny-bopper marketing, has been great for me as an occassional-use phone. You just have to buy at least $20.00 worth of minutes every 90 day to keep your account active, and you carry over unlimited minutes which never expire. The...

    Firefox 1.0.1 released

I guess I don't understand the point of overwriting the old version rather than removing it. I just uninstalled the previoius version via "Add/Remove Programs" prior to installing the 1.0.1. All my extensions, themes, plugins and about:config settings were carried over, since they reside in...

Do you have the nvidia firewall enabled? You mentioned SP2...have you disabled the windows firewall? Does your pc get progressively slower prior to the lockup, or is it sudden? Take a look at task manager after bittorrent has been running for a while and see if there are any processes...

    Strange Browsing Problem

Does your internet service go through a proxy? Are you using Zone Alarm Pro? Or any other software with pop-up blocking functionality? What firewall are you using? Other ideas: Open up task manager and find out what processes are running. Also, make task manager always on top...

Don't know of any real "freeware", but you can get $50.00 for opening an ING Direct Orange savings account (see here) with a valid MS Money license key. You can get last year's versions of MS Money 2004 here. After mail-in rebate, you come out ahead. Better-than-freeware! Note that the...
