    Office Computer for Boss

Thanks everyone. I believe I am going with this: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($200.07 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: ASRock B150M Pro4 Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($80.89 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: Crucial 16GB (2 x...

    Office Computer for Boss

Is the onboard graphics that come with that CPU good enough to run CAD? Or am I an idiot and CAD uses the CPU itself?

This one is great. Will have to make a few tweaks but this is a great starting point. Thanks!

    Office Computer for Boss

Thanks for the suggestion. He doesn't need a Windows license included in this price. That's why I figured going pre-built was a bit of a waste. Either way I will look into both options. We do construction. My boss is also my cousin and we are pretty close. I have been doing the "IT" in...

    Office Computer for Boss

I was hoping I didn't have to go the pre-built route. I think piecing my own together would let me be more creative with the budget. I was mostly stuck on if I should go with the new Sandylake or stick to a Haswell. Could also go AMD of course. I would like to have a SSD. Only other...

    Office Computer for Boss

    1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing. Office computer for a contractor. He will be using it for regular office tasks as well as some CAD. He uses Chief Architect for CAD mostly. 2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long...

    Opinions on $450 Non-gaming build

Thanks to everyone on here for all the help, especially Ken. Here's the build I wound up going with: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: *Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor ($184.99 @ Directron) Motherboard: ASRock H81M-HDS Micro ATX LGA1150...

    Opinions on $450 Non-gaming build

Ken thank you so much for the help. Do you think the DDR3-1600 support being the highest will cause any problems in the future?

    Opinions on $450 Non-gaming build

I'm leaning towards Ken's build. Has pretty much everything I need. I didn't realize you don't lose any video quality going from DVI to HDMI. I was hoping to have an HDMI output but this should work.

    Opinions on $450 Non-gaming build

If you were referring to my original build, I was relying on the GPU for HDMI out. Since I decided to just go with onboard graphics, I am going to have to find a motherboard that has the capability. First I need to decide if I should go with a i3/i5 or an AMD.

Already has a monitor, mouse, keyboard and OS. I believe he uses Adobe Premier. He doesn't use it that often but wants the option if the need arises.

    Opinions on $450 Non-gaming build

Thanks guys! I have been out of the hardware game for a while and just recently trying to get back into it. The onboard graphics idea is great. Not sure why I overlooked that.

    Opinions on $450 Non-gaming build

Hey all. Trying to do a build for my brother. He has a budget of $450 before MIR and after shipping. He is not a gamer. He wants the computer mostly for surfing the web and streaming movies but needs to ability to use it for video editing. This is what I have at PCPartPicker but it is...
