    120Hz Monitor + Crossfire 7970 = !!!!

As many who bought crossfire 7970's and did not run with eyefinity, I was dissapointed in the choppyness (for lack of a better word) of the play with crossfire enabled while using Vsync. Using frame limiters in Afterburner didn't help much either and it bugged me to be limiting frames in the...

7970 not waking up from sleep

I have this issue with the current recommended driver. Any driver previous to this worked fine. I am not infront of my machine to get the version but it is the one offered on AMD's website. I now avoid using sleep and simply shut down as the gains these drivers provide are enough to deal with...

7970 Video Codec Engine software... where are you!?

ANYONE have any news on when arcsoft or cyberlink might actually support this feature? Does the driver need to support it first? This is the first time I threw serious cash at a product and I can't use one of the biggest touted features. What gives!? The drivers also blow and crossfire has...

    7970 x2 Crossfire Microstutter unbrearable

I've used SLI and Crossfire exclusively since the 8800 days. On launch day, I bought 2 7970's to continue that trend. Though my framerate went through the roof in BF3 with everything enabled, it still felt 'choppy', probably more noticeable because of the cash outlay and expectations I built...

[H]ard|OCP: AMD CrossFireX Drivers - Opportunity Lost

My 2 7970's came in the mail. I do not have a CD/DVD drive (don't need it). I put them in the computer. I turned it on. I went to AMD's website and downloaded the driver available for 7970s. I installed it. I turned on crossfire. I ran benchmarks (15K in 3dmark11, so, CFX is working). I played...

    Cryptocoin Mining?

7970 Further testing, dropping the memory to 170mhz substantially reduces power draw. at default core clock of 925@.925v I am showing 125watts at the wall per card. 1071mhash on 250watts of usage. EDIT: 1099@.919v 1253mhash on 300watts of usage. 4.16mhash/watt. Stable so far after 1...

Dude, 2 at 100% fan speed, I was SHOCKED.

    Cryptocoin Mining?

I made this post over in another thread but note that both of my 7970's are stable at stock clocks @ .878v. Dropping it like that is showing a good 140w savings. My UPS readout shows 525watts total system draw with both at that voltage and 100% usage. This is on a system with an idle...

Who Snagged a HD 7970 Last Night?

Would be nice if some would cover the undervolting these can do. Both of my HIS 7970's run 100% usage (bitcoin) at .878v. Doing this dropped the wattage pull by roughly 140w total. Still same stock clocks, still same awesome.

Who Snagged a HD 7970 Last Night?

Both of my HIS 7970's go to 1125 in crossfire out of the box. Have not messed with the memory at all. Best impression I have of these is the build quality of the reference design. They are really heavy compared to my 5850's and stay super cool under full load. So far so good, can't wait to...

    7970 Benchmark Results

I used the drivers found on AMD's site that were posted on 1/9. I have not tried to optimize anything either, just slap in the cards, install the drivers, benchmark. Shouldn't be anything new really but figured I would post them anyhow. Retail cards seem to OC just fine.

    7970 Benchmark Results

If one was started and I missed it, I appologize. Just got my cards (2 HIS). Both instantly hit 1125 (maximum allowed in CC) and had no issues in a benchmark run. Both cards stayed under 70C while OC'd in the benchmark run. Fan speed was 36%. 2600K@4.6 3DMark Score P14248 Graphics...
